I would think it would interesting and damn cool to have a federation where earth isnt the center of the universe anymore...where aliens are really alien and Federation does its best to cling to federation values and how humans deal with a changing universe where human beings are a smaller part of a bigger galaxy.

A universe where a human guy's girlfriend is a changeling, his best friend is a horta and his captain is a sentient rodent. Thats the Star Trek universe worth watching.

I think the point of this proposed series is that the crew would work to restore hope to the galaxy. It sounds very Andromeda like.

Any "Federation" is boring. Stories aren't about governments or societies but about individuals.

The Federation was nothing but an occasionally referenced word in the original "Star Trek" and that's all it needed to be.
