News CBS All Access Wants Emmys For Star Trek: Discovery

Back in '66 I knew about Star Trek from a friend of mine that watched but at my house I didn't have any say about what we watched. I either watched what 'they' wanted or I did something else with my time.

By the time it came to syndication I had my own B&W TV in my room and total say about what I watched, then started my Trek.

My mom once came in and asked what I was watching, I told her Star Trek and gave her a short description of what it was about, (cautiously avoiding any smart-ass remarks about how we could have watched it back when it was new )

Within a few moments of her looking at it she asked if she could watch it with me. By episodes end she was hooked, suggested we watch the next episodes out in the living room on the color TV! To this day she and I are the biggest Trek fans in all the family and relatives combined.

The reason I bring this up is because I think the makers of Trek don't account for how many Trek fans are fans of the Berman era.
They have the box office returns from the TNG era movies for that.
The same reason there is no remastered version of DS9 or VOY. There aren't enough people who will pay for it. The B&B era is an interesting place to visit, but it's an empty well that was drawn from far too often.

You took my quote out of context.

It's actually pretty amazing how much streaming shows and cable (like HBO, etc) are recognized vs. regular network television shows in these awards.

Very telling.

The reason for this, IMHO? Most of the network shows are the same old, same old crime and comedy stuff (with a few exceptions) and the TV Academy is realizing this, which is why most of the shows on cable and streaming are getting awards. Who wants to award Criminal Minds or Person of Interest, or 2 Broke Girls?

The only problem with that is, as somebody said above, most of the general public isn't watching these shows.

Wow, CBS All Access just sent me an urgent email offering me a Last Chance To Get One Month of All Access Absolutely Free!.

This is like, my sixth Last Chance! from them.
