CBS “reimagining” After Trek for season 2

A new news article has been published at TrekToday:

After Trek, the show that followed Star Trek: Discovery on CBS All Access, will be changing for Season Two. Hosted by Matt...

At least we can agree that After Trek is not canon :D
You and I certainly agree on that, but there are those who insist otherwise. After all, there are people on this forum who insist that Arne Darvin was surgically altered in the same manner as Voq/Lt. Ash Tyler simply because After Trek says so.

That's... really strange.

The whole surgical alteration thing isn't even original to Discovery (neither is the Darvin theory), it seems they lifted it pretty much wholesale from IDW's Klingons: Blood Will Tell.

I don't care, in my Head Canon Darvin's alteration was simply cosmetic, and that is that. I mean, why would the Klingon's intelligence service even waste the effort of putting their agents through some sort of weird merging and splicing of their bodies with someone else's in a process that can't be reversed and is easily detectable anyway? Cosmetic alterations work well enough for the intelligence services of every other Alpha Quadrant power, or are Klingons that obsessed with cutting themselves and others up?

Well, I suppose they are.

Or he's just an augment Klingon

I tend to agree where TOS is concerned. In the Discovery universe, they can do anything they want with the character.
*GASP* You mean the two shows aren't the same universe? ;)

But then you have people insisting he has to be a Forehead Klingon because he was referred to as being surgically altered in DS9. Never mind the fact that line was spoken in a scene before the DS9 characters learned Klingons without forehead ridges were once a thing.

I wouldn't be surprised if part of the AfterTrek retooling is for the benefit of host Matt Mira. The lunatic schedule he was having to maintain between his regular staff writing gig on The Goldbergs, the multiple podcasts he hosts, and then having to fly out to NYC to prep and film AT ran him down to the point of a severe panic attack that finally hit during the filming of the episode the week before Frakes was on, IIRC. The producers would do well to move the production out to LA, it really doesn't make much sense to me to film it in NYC.

I was always able to watch it immediately in the UK. It really does seem strange that they varied it by region.
It was probably because of the subtitles. Translators would not be able to get the live/semi-live episode until Monday morning and I doubt that the episode was on top of the list of episodes to translate so it took couple of days.

HBO Nordic does things in a better way when they don't have the subtitles ready. They release the episode without subtitles and then add the subtitles when they come available.
