My best guess is that the actual writer is Tom Straw, as Heat Wave cites Castle as having "received the Nom DePlume Society's prestigious Tom Straw Award for Mystery Literature."I have to admit, it's kinda working. I'm thinking of getting the novel from the library. (Wish I knew who actually wrote it, though.)

Based on how the others were talking about casting, are there characters based on them too in the Nikki Heat novel? I wonder if there would be any dynamic change/conflict in the show if one of the other cops became popular enough for Castle to write a spin-off novel.
How much is the plot of the novel based on the storylines of the first season?
My daughter has unfortunately taken my copy off somewhere so I can't flip through it to refresh my memory...How much is the plot of the novel based on the storylines of the first season? Because that was the whole point of the premise -- that he was following Beckett to get material for the book. I guess it's possible that could just be the characters, but I think it would mesh better if elements of the book's plot were based on the "actual" cases Castle and Beckett investigated during the development and writing of Heat Wave.
And the second book is going to be called Naked Heat? Really? Ohh, Beckett's gonna hate that...
