Casting calls for Star Trek 3

Vulcan lady? Female Spock?

Cool, she was awesome in Kingsman. My first though was "Klingon warrior," although I could also see her potentially playing a Vulcan. Also, as much as I like Zoe Saldana, Boutella would DESTROY her in a straight-up fight. Actually, that's another thing that I liked about Kingsman, she got to have the big "final fight" with the hero (instead of being relegated to a "girl fight" cliché).

Zoe also was a dancer like her and she's the most trained of the cast especially thank to the work they do for avatar. Watched Colombiana or Guardians of the galaxy? You should worry about Pine's b*tt instead

Don't forget that there are three new, lead female characters: the Federation President, a new Starfleet captain and Bones’ ex-wife. Sofie can be a captain bad ass.

I am wondering who will play three female characters.
If Alice Eve come back, plus Zoe, we could have 5 female in major or central characters.
looking overcrowded to me. hopfully the film wont be like STID which was too short and went too fast. ther is nothing wrong with a 3 hrs film.

Yeah, Kirk seems to get his ass kicked a lot these days (Nero, Spock, Khan, bar fight, etc). I can just picture him being all "ugh, here we go again."

No, there's nothing wrong with a three-hour film, but I don't think I'd hold my breath waiting for one from either J.J. Abrams or Justin Lin, who both seem to favor runtimes in the neighborhood of two hours.

Plus studios are quite reluctant to make movies of that length these days. They don't think that they're as profitable.

Indeed, I remember an interview where Abrams actually said he hates three hour movies.

I don't know about that. The Hobbit movies and The Dark Knight series are very profitable and around three hours per movie.

They're the exceptions. I didn't say that studios never greenlight movies of that length, but they're usually reluctant to do so.

The Hobbit and later Dark Knight movies were guaranteed box office dynamite. The Trek films aren't at that level (yet!). And yes, on a practical level you can make more money with a shorter film because you can have more showings.
