Cartoons from the 80s

The introduction to Voltron voiced by Optimus Prime himself Peter Cullen, and that guy got shittons of voice acting work and voice over credits to his name.

You might like these, a little behind the scenes history and they have done other shows as well.

Yep, I've been following that channel for the past few years. Lots of detailed (and often entertaining) information about the origins, production, and ultimate fate of many cartoons and toy lines from the '80s and other decades.

Weird thing is it seemed like they were always on and you watched loads of episodes but when you look back a lot had only a couple of series and not many episodes, they obviously just repeated them loads and I never realized

That's the wonder of syndicated cartoons. There might not always be many episodes, but their very nature allows them to be repeated without a noticeable beginning or end of the series.

Lots of great classics brought up including Thundercats, Voltron (one of the best 80s opening themes), and Muppet Babies.

And then we get to this gem...

I loved the hell out of that show as a kid even though I barely remember much about the show itself and more of the toys and the corresponding comics (either came with the toys or were separate, I forget). I'm honestly shocked it hasn't been adapted to a film franchise yet, especially now that CGI dinosaurs are becoming easier and easier these days. Doctor fucking Who had a random scene with dinosaurs (mind you, with "Disney money" but still!) so how the hell isn't Michael Bay not running hog wild with this idea? This is one franchise I wouldn't mind him going nuts with.

Some greats that haven't been mentioned yet:
Silverhawks:

Those were all fun. But Silverhawks suffered from GI-joe itis every week the bad guys would return, and usually it's the same crowd. They should have killed Monstaarr

Short story: Mattel owns the rights to DinoRiders, Mattel also has the licence for the Jurassic Park/World action figure toyline, Mattel (and moreso their business partner Universal) don't want to create a franchise in competition with their existing immensely profitable franchise.

Ahhhh...that makes sense. I hadn't realized that connection.

A shame really because it would make a gazillion dollars in toys alone, regardless of Jurassic Park (but more likely because of). The only thing that is able to get in the way of greed is greed itself.

Being an 80's kid I loved many cartoons from that era but my absolute favorite is 'Transformers' and it lead to my favorite animated film of all time.

I love this movie but always did wonder what happens to the humans limbs when their suits transform.

Dungeons and Dragons and Battle of the Planets were a couple of my favourites, along with Ulysses 31:
