As someone for whom Jon Pertwee is the Doctor, this is sad news. I liked Liz Shaw - she didn't put up with any crap from anyone, the Doctor included.

RIP, Ms. John, and thanks for the memories.

Just bumped this for something funny I just read, from an Ansible correspondent:
