Having Carol on Yorktown in ST:B would have done it for me. No need to give her a lot to do if the actor is willing, but at least keep her in play. Maybe she and Kirk have something going, maybe they don't. Heck, she could have been one of the reasons why he wanted to be stationed there.

still good to see her again/depressing as hell if this is the last time we see KT character.
according to justin lin, early versions of his film had carol in it too. but then she was reduced to a reference in pegg's script (she's off starting the genesis project), then there's no mention at all.

It is for the game. Both her and Khan weren't in the game at first but they recently added them. I think they probably had to pay for the rights to use the characters. I wonder if there would be commercials with the others too.
Alice seemed to have so much hope for her role in trek (it's the only big franchise she would be part of) and I have no doubt she'd love to be in more movies. However, with a main cast so big already one should set their expectations low. Pegg&Co added Jaylah and the villains and when there is hardly screentime for the main characters, adding too many faces is counterproductive and the risk is you make them redundant cameos that take screentime from the regulars but don't have a significant role.

The ST09/ID women's uniforms never had rank insignia. They fixed it for Beyond by giving the women long sleeves, so they had cuffs to put the rank braids on. Odd that no one ever suggested TMP-style epaulettes.

Yeah, it's a shame that beyond's team got all the credit for adding rank to the uniforms (Karl Urban too pushed that narrative that beyond finally fixed that) but in reality, they just make Uhura wear a long sleeves one that had rank stripes even in Kaplan version. Kaplan had designed all the uniforms to show rank, it's just that he thought Uhura's uniform would be cuter with short sleeves but they forgot to add rank to that version too and when they realized, he said it looked bad and amateur when they tried to add the stripes on them after the fact. It was a mistake.Some of the long sleeve variants in 09 had rank insignia.

Eve's Carol Marcus was one of the many wonderful things about Star Trek into Darkness, and the inexplicable failure to bring her back was one of the multiple disappointments of Star Trek Beyond.
