Caretaker question

It's been a while since we had a good canon debate.

I really can't think of anything more utterly pointless that's been argued so much.

There is no such thing as a pointless discussion as long as 2+ are involved and interested. We always have the option of skipping over posts and threads that don't interest us.

Well, you guys do anyway...

Personally, I see no problem using an RPG as a source. He only used it because there wasn't a more valid canon source that described the Ocampan System. As long as it's plausible, and doesn't contradict anything firmly in canon, then anything can be a workable theory.

I´s been a long time since I´ve watched Caretaker but there´ something that bugs me. Ocampa do not seem to be only one who are suffering from low supplies of water and food. Kazons are displaying simillar concerns and even Neelix is amazed when he discovers how much water is on Voyager. So, does this mean that this huge area of Delta quadrant is full of planets transformed to deserts by Caretaker´s technology? That doesn´t seem to be consistent with a lot of worlds even in first two seasons and it doesn´t make sense that space traveling cultures would choose such worlds as colonies without constant supplies. Or have I the whole thing messed up?

I actually had that same question years ago. Never thought to ask it here. Great thread!

I think it just means that in that particular region of space there happens to be not a lot of planets with water on them.

Do Kazon ships land?

If they don't land or have transporters, how can they carry water too & from the ships?

Shuttles?
But weren't Kazon "mother ship's" 4x the size of Voyager?

No way a shuttle could bring up enough water to supply a ships crew of that size.

Wouldn't it be a waste of resources just to make several trips for water supply? You'd waste more "fuel", just making the trips back and forth, wouldn't you?

we did see a few ships that were much bigger than Voyager, but Voyager herself wasn't a very big ship.

Right.

Voyager had too benefits, it could land for supplies or it could beam them up.
