A friend's black convertible top is slowly changing to "light black," anyone know of a product to keep it a solid black color?

We've tried a few different creams on small areas and nothing really seem to help.

I don't know if they will work on a convertible top, but when restoring cars, you can dye the interior surfaces with special dyes made for the purpose. Try a parts supplier for antique autos or a local upholstery shop to find them.

Where is the car usually parked? A fabric top that's exposed to the sun is going to fade over time. If at all possible, the car should be parked away from direct sunlight.

What's it made of? Impossible to say what will make it black again if you don't say what material it is.

If it's vinyl, which a lot of soft tops are, then there are any number of different products designed to turn it back to black.
