A wishlist of ships or vessels i would like to see in the style of Captshade's MS paint/Paint.net style orthos.
I'm wondering if anyone has the expertise to pull at least some of them offor or find them manageable.

    Friendly note...

This isnt really cool and kinda entitled. You may mean well but some of the folks here do art work professionally. Also, your request would require lot of time...though some might be willing to help out with a couple. for free.

Also, some of the artists may not appreciate you asking others to recreate their art like this.

I didn't say anything about a timetable for such artists to volunteer their time creating a project for a random stranger from a trek board for an unknown purpose beyond desiring a set of artwork in a certain style done by another artist....

    Hi @Acenos,

I have no idea where you hail from in this world, so I have no idea if English is your first language, but I think that the main thing that people may be taking issue with is your use of key words such as "expecting" and terms like "want to see" rather than terms like "hoping to see", even if you aren't putting a time limit on people. As well, your request list (there is nothing wrong with requests) is rather long. For such a long list, and a lot of people take exception to this suggestion, is that you learn the programs that a lot of the people here have put their own time into in learning. A good portion of the work you see in this art forum has been accomplished using free software, so all it would cost you is time to learn the various apps needed.

I'm sure someone would suggest you learn these programs and techniques yourself even if it were one image or design you'd love to see, but such a long list just appears to be a bit, and I hate to use this word, but "Entitled".

Most people have no problem with a request here and there for free work on a single design, but when there are so many, a person might like to see other terminology used and even possibly some form of payment, as this would be commissioned work and a lot of it.

Again, no issue with fanart requests, in general, and again, I have no idea if English is your primary language, I'm just relaying what I've seen on so many art fora over the years.

Good luck with this! Perhaps this IS a perfect time to learn how to do it. :)

Yes, english is my primary language. i have trouble doing those kings of orthos since im bad at determining scale, can only do side profiles, and also I'm not very good at eyeballing details.

    What are orthos?

I can see why Scribble was uncertain you were a native English speaker. The post I quoted doesn't make sense. It seems you are using jargon and terms used in an more obscure niche of the sci-fi/fanasty or gaming world. Could you clarify?

It's short for orthographic view. So front, aft, top, bottom and side views. Though the complete picture eludes me as well...

Yes, Orthos is perfectly English as a short for orthographic views in blueprinting. I have no problem with that. It just some of the other terminology (semantics, I know) that come across as a bit, and again, I hate to use this word, entitled.

I would love to have the time to do something like this, as I'm sure a lot of other people do, but the simple fact that these are a LOT of requests.

Besides, I have no idea what Captshade is, even if I could take the two seconds it would take to search Google.

All I'm saying is that since this is a goal of yours, it might be worth taking the time to learn how to do it, yourself. All of us started in the same position as you did, and all of us took the time to learn how to do it, training our eyes to look at those details.

And again, I'm not saying that there's anything wrong with requests at all. What I'm saying is that, due to the volume of these requests, you may be better served by learning the process and creating them, yourself. You'll have more of a sense of accomplishment, not to mention being able to have pride in your own work.

^ Couldn't have said it better myself, thank you. :)

@Acenos, I do understand the desire to see a particular piece of artwork done to my own wishes and specifications. Especially when I'm convinced I won't be able to do it myself. But please understand that first of all this subforum is supposed to be a place for artists posting their artwork. Your requests have been visible on the board for a couple of days and I'm sure if there was someone able and willing to fulfill your wishes, they would have said so by now. This is why I'm closing this thread at this point as I'm not convinced the discussion is leading anywhere.

But, just as @Tinsel/@Scribble is saying, I would like to encourage you as well that learning to do this kind of stuff yourself can be very rewarding, even if the learning curve might seem steep at first. And as artists we would love to be part of your learning process. This would be something that has its place in this forum. :)
