Captain Pike's weird comment about "women on the bridge"

As an element of the intended spinoff series, Isis the Cat seemed like something better suited to Bewitched than a serious sci-fi/spy show. But I love Bewitched, so who's complaining?

So do I. It's one of the very few shows of its type that I still like to watch, on occasion of course.
 
Shape-shifters are reoccurring in Star Trek. Given that Spock was able to hold Isis, I would say she actually changed shape, and it wasn't a illusion like the salt vampire.

Although the full size woman might have been a illusion.

The question is, is she really increasing mass when she transforms from a cat to a Woman, and if so where does that extra matter come from? It's a question I would ask about all shapeshifters capable of changing size so drastically.
