Captain Pike (TOS) story

there is not much on Captain Pike except early TOS & Star Trek XI.
The universes are exclusive. Either you're telling stories of Pike in the TOS universe or the PIke in the Abramsverse. The prime Pike has a history aboard the Enterprise. The nuPike is only aboard the Uglyprise for a short time before he's injured and replaced.

A Pike era story from the TOS universe? I'll be keeping an eye out for this.

This month's Star Trek novel centers on Pike's crew. It's called The Children of Kings. I assume it centers on the original universe since it has Jeff Hunter and Leonard Nimoy on the cover.

Read the 'Author's Notes' in the back. "The Children of Kings" is suppose to be a prequel to Star Trek 2009. Which makes no sense when it has Pike in command of the Enterprise and Number One as XO.

I have it ordered from Amazon, but don't have it yet. Aren't the rest of the cast from "The Cage" also in it? If that's the case, you're right, it wouldn't make sense for it to be a prequel to the movie. Clearly Pike took the Enterprise out for the first time in that movie, and commanded it for one mission only.

Pike, Boyce, Number One and Spock are all in their traditional roles.

To me the biggest mistake the new film made was identifying the Enterprise as the ship being constructed at Riverside. Leaving it ambiguous would have opened up all kinds of story-telling potential.

ST09 did all sorts of stupid things. And perhaps the biggest was this fucking insistence to have all the pieces in place at the beginning.

nuChekov is 17 fucking years old! When the hell did he have time to be trained at the Academy? At 13? The Uglyprise has zero history to it. nuKirk has zero credentials other than getting lucky and he wins command of the prize of the fleet.

Everything about this film is stupid. And I suspect it isn't going to age well.

Oh thank you! It's so refreshing to find someone else who's not maniacally in love with "Ferris Bueller's Day In Space".

I'm not "maniacally" in love with it, but I did enjoy it. After watching even one episode of Moore' BSG with it's over the top never-ending agnst, Star Trek XI was a breath of fresh air.

But then, anything was more enjoyable after that shit. Being awake for a heart transplant comes to mind.

That said, I agree with Warped's gripes of the movie, but still thought it was a fun experience.

Really?

Your points come across alot more clearly without the need to swear. Everyone who uses the board is pretty familiar with your gripes against the new film. I even agree with some of them. But I don't feel the need to spew about it every chance I get. After a while it comes across as... obsessive.

Back to the book...

It plays much more as a sequel to Enterprise than a prequel to Star Trek 2009. One hundred-fifty pages in and I am interested in where Dave Stern takes this one.

I would appreciate it warped9 if you didn't use bad language just because you have issues with bloody STXI, it's just a movie

Are you familiar with the phrase, take a pill?

Stick around awhile and you'll come across a lot worse than anything I've ever said.

Swearing-wise, perhaps. But you are completely over the top and your posts are downright silly. It's hard to tell if you actually do have problems with the movie, or if this is a long-term attempt at trolling. Either way, the phrase "frothing at the mouth" seems apt when describing your posts.

Well, we'll keep this at an elevated level.
