Captain Kirk - clairvoyant!

toonloon

Captain
Captain
I saw something a bit spooky when watching "The Changeling" the other day. Captain Kirk has a premonition at the end of the episode.

At the very end of the show he refers jokingly to "his son, the doctor" and then makes a stabbing motion towards his own chest foreshadowing the death of his actual son, a doctor, who was stabbed in the chest by a klingon.

Weird.

That wasn't a stabbing motion, he was thumping his chest to indicate his heart. "It gets you right here." It's a common way of expressing that something reaches you emotionally.

I'll grant you that "My son, the doctor" was unintentionally prophetic, but "stabbing motion?" That's a gigantic reach.

Wouldn't he have only been like 23 or so then? How could he have a PHD at that age?

In the interest of making a fun post about a tv show, I don't think it's that much a "reach". Okay, how about I say, "Kirk makes a closed fist gesture towards his own chest which partially represents the closed fist gesture by a Klingon national which resulted in the untimely death of his illegimate son"?

Because he was smart? Maybe he specialized in science at an early age? Educational methods have to have improved in 300 years, so why couldn't David have a doctorate at age 23?

I guess it was a good guess that he would have a son who turned out to be a doctor.

Frankly, I don't think he only had one son though. I think he only had one son that he knew about.
