Captain Kirk At The Oscars!

I tried to watch it. Turned it off. It wasn't Shatner playing Kirk, it was Shatner playing Shatner in Kirk drag.

It would have been funny if Chris Pine presented an award later in the show, then Shatner as future Kirk could come back "on screen" and give Pine some tips on how to REALLY present an award. Lots of jokes could have been made there. That would have been good! Although I'm not sure the Oscar writers could have pulled it off.

Actually, Pine and Saldana did present some technical awards later in the broadcast, but they didn't interact with Shatner.

All that means is that the Oscars took place in the Prime universe, duh.

"it was Shatner playing Shatner in Kirk drag."

One could say the same thing about his performance in Trek V. Shatner's inner sense of who Kirk is doesn't deviate much from himself. It takes a strong director to reign him.
