Re: Captain America: The First Avenger-Review, Discuss, Grade, Sequel,

That "Star-Spangled Man" song really sticks in your head. It's been 10 hours since I saw the film, and I'm still whistling the tune.

Re: Captain America: The First Avenger-Review, Discuss, Grade, Sequel,

Just seen it and really enjoyed it. Liked the setting but also would have preffered regular Nazis. The movie wasn't so gung ho American great as I was expecting.

Re: Captain America: The First Avenger-Review, Discuss, Grade, Sequel,

I went to see Captain America with my best friend, who is Jewish. She said that she went in intending to root for the character who killed the most Nazis... and found herself rooting for Red Skull. She was disappointed by that.

saw it agin today for a second time and I love this movie so much. question, the sceen where the red skull was posing for a paint and the scientist came asked him a question. the music during that sceen was"nt it the same music from the movie excalibur?

Pretty sure the music during the portrait scene is from Wagner, I believe it is Siegfried's Funeral March but I'd need to see the movie again to be sure. It is also used in Excalibur, my favorite music piece in Excalibur was using Karl Orff's Carmina Burana when Arthur and the knights are riding out of Camelot for the last battle.

Seeing how all HYDRA soldiers are renegade Nazis, surely she could've made some concession? ;)

She refused to concede that, insisting that the fact that HYDRA was an off-shoot made them a distinct organization from the Nazis.

That just sounds...silly.
It's like saying Al Queda is ok because they are an offshoot of the much worse Taliban(hypothetical but still). :vulcan:

She didn't say HYDRA was okay. She said she was disappointed because she wanted to see Captain America killing Nazis.

Re: Captain America: The First Avenger-Review, Discuss, Grade, Sequel,

If in the sequel Sharon Carter appears I wonder if Hayley Atwell will get to play her since in the comics she was the niece of Peggy Carter(at first her younger sister but that was retconned to niece) and was said to look like her.

My guess they'll we'll probably want to cast someone new.

Hayley's been suggesting to Joe Johnson that Peg stole some "blue juice" and could appear in the present that way.

(blue juice was her name for the serum)

Re: Captain America: The First Avenger-Review, Discuss, Grade, Sequel,

That woman we saw at the end is supposed to be Sharon Carter, I think.

Wouldn't surprise me if they changed her origin so that she's either Peggy's great-niece or grand-daughter or something.

Re: Captain America: The First Avenger-Review, Discuss, Grade, Sequel,

i thought she was just a SHIELD agent dressed 40s style...

Re: Captain America: The First Avenger-Review, Discuss, Grade, Sequel,

What, she can't be both?

Re: Captain America: The First Avenger-Review, Discuss, Grade, Sequel,

I thought they were going for a relative by the way she looked. I hope she can concentrate on the job and not flirt in the middle of action.
Also how often do we have to hear the "You're late" gag after someone makes a grand entrance.

Would have to be niece of some kind, since, barring unusual circumstances, Peggy's granddaughter wouldn't also have the surname "Carter".

Re: Captain America: The First Avenger-Review, Discuss, Grade, Sequel,

I assumed the SHIELD agent who was dolled up '40s style (played by Amanda Righetti) was supposed to be Sharon Carter, too. I'd rather see Sharon played by someone other than Atwell; making her look exactly like Peggy would add a bit of a creepiness factor to the whole thing.

Re: Captain America: The First Avenger-Review, Discuss, Grade, Sequel,

On further reflection I've got to say that I really disliked the ending.

Now, I understand that Marvel is more interested in building its movie brand as some kind of mega-franchise than they are in the quality of their individual movies simply as stand-alone films.

If Captain America were really a movie made for the sake of making a good movie, though, and the potential beginning of a Really Damned Good movie series, they'd have left him in his proper milieu at end.

I'd pay to see another World War II Captain America movie on the big screen - more than once, if it were as good as this one. The period aspects of the thing give it some real charm and make it remarkable among the current Super Hero Bloat. Give up Hayley Atwell to satisfy some "grand" franchising scheme? Cap in 2011? Not so much. He's just another big guy with issues, wearing tights.
