Karl Urban as... wait for it... wait for it... WINTER SOLDIER BUCKY!

Yes... you may hold your applause ;)

Being a ham isn't an intrinsic part of Kirk,
Well it used to be an intrinsic part of Kirk. ;) And it would have been fun to see Pine hang onto that aspect of the character, to some degree. But it's just impossible to see how it could have been done without becoming absurd, so they were right to drop it.

Overall, Trek XI showed good sense about what to keep and what to drop. For instance, a lot about Uhura was dropped, to very good effect, but very little was changed about McCoy and Spock, because they didn't need it.

Zachary Quinto for Sub-Mariner (Namor always had Spock ears anyway)
Wentworth Miller needs to hit the gym and get himself some abs. Then he'd be a great Namor! Besides, Zach will be busy playing Barnabas in my TV remake of Dark Shadows. :D

^ I'd rather see Wentworth as Matt Murdock in the Daredevil reboot.

Re: CAPTAIN AMERICA-shooting July 2010:Casting, Rumors, Pics till rele

I'd rather have Michael C Hall as Daredevil.

Re: CAPTAIN AMERICA-shooting July 2010:Casting, Rumors, Pics till rele

Shouldn't that be "Spock always had Namor's ears"? ;)

Re: CAPTAIN AMERICA-shooting July 2010:Casting, Rumors, Pics till rele

Heh, yeah. Reminds me of how someone once asked if Martian Manhunter was supposed to be based on Spock, when MM predates him by a decade or so.

his pointy? ehhh not so much. But you never know with those massive chops he had

I hear Abrams asked Pine to mimic Shatner's "Spock!" annunciation late on in the film in a specific scene, but I always thought that Pine's Kirk reminded me most of Shatner's in the Kobiyashi Maru scene, down to his line delivery!

Do you mean "Bones!" at the end of the film?

No, it was when Kirk and Spock were in the Jellyfish inside the Narada, and Spock was unsure about whether he'd be able to fly the ship, Kirk said something to the effect of "Spock!... You'll be able to fly it, trust me".

"Starfleet Command has ordered us to rescue them... captain," was very Shatner-like in its delivery.

Reminds me of that X-Men/Star Trek crossover comic where Cyclops and Kirk are talking and McCoy and Beast are together and one of them goes "Dr. McCoy." and they both go "Yes?" and look at each other. Ah laughter and good times were had by all...

Chris really did a great homage to Shatner didn't he

THR's Heat Vision Blog has a report on the actors who have made it to the final round of test screenings (and Chris Pine isn't amongst them):

John Krasinski as Captain America?

It could happen as Marvel conducts screen tests this week in its search for the actor to play Steve Rogers, the alter ego of the title character in its "Captain America" movie.

The company's latest superhero movie is being directed by Joe Johnston and tells the story of the young infirm man rejected from enlisting who becomes America's symbol of liberty during World War II and eventually a member of Marvel's superhero team the Avengers.

About seven actors have moved to the front of the super soldier serum testing line and have either tested or are expected to screen test this week and next at Marvel's Manhattan Beach headquarters.

Those known to be on the list with Krasinski include Michael Cassidy (who appeared in"Smallvile" and who tested for the Superman movie when McG was going to direct it), Patrick Flueger (one of the stars of "The 4400" who most recently appeared in the Tobey Maguire movie "Brothers"), Scott Porter (TV's "Friday Night Lights") and Mike Vogel ("Cloverfield").

Chace Crawford is also in talks to screen test, though no deal has been made.

Garret Hedlund, already starring in Disney's "Tron," was also on the list to test but has fallen off, at least for now, because of scheduling conflicts. Insiders say he may still make the testing round. Jensen Ackles is another actor who had scheduling conflicts.

The studio has put the actors on 30-day holds during the testing process.

Sources on both sides caution that an actor may not be found from the tests, which happened during Marvel's search for the man who would be "Thor." For that movie, currently shooting in Manhattan Beach, the studio conducted several rounds of testing but found its star, Chris Hemsworth, out of left field.

Re: CAPTAIN AMERICA-shooting July 2010:Casting, Rumors, Pics till rele

Patrick Flueger woudn't be bad, but keep Jensen Ackles and Mike Vogel far, far away from Captain America!
