CAPTAIN AMERICA-shooting July 2010:Casting, Rumors, Pics till release

Re: CAPTAIN AMERICA-shooting July 2010:Casting, Rumors, Pics till rele

I could see the ice sequence being any part of those scenarios suggested. If Marvel Studios keeps with their tradition though, the ice scene should be their post-credits sequence. Perhaps "Avengers" opens with this scene again? Lots of possibilities. Less than a month to find out. :)

I imagine that there will be a post credit scene, but I don't thing this is it. Like you said, they usually keep that under wraps.

Re: CAPTAIN AMERICA-shooting July 2010:Casting, Rumors, Pics till rele

^ My guess would be that the post-credits scene is Nick Fury recruiting Steve. I haven't put this in spoiler code because, as I say, it's just a guess.

Very Cool!!!
I had thought this would be one element replaced by a crude cryo-stasis chamber. Nice!

I agree it's likely this could be an opening sequence with the movie being a flashback. Someone with a line like, "Do you know who this guy is?" Cue Nick Fury, "I'll tell you who he is"

Then I'd wager the scene we all saw of Nick and Steve in modern day Times Square is Steve fully waking up in shock and running out.

I don't know much about the comic, but is it normal to find him frozen in ice? Is he the Avatar?
Avatar's use of the trope is probably a reference to Steve, in fact (he's the most famous use of the concept in modern pop culture).

Re: CAPTAIN AMERICA-shooting July 2010:Casting, Rumors, Pics till rele

the movie's bookended by present day scenes, so my guess would be the ice scene is the start and then we flashback and the Times Square scene is at the end.

post-credits scene? the Avengers assembled, in costume.

The first international poster I've seen. It also is the first time to say "From the studio that brought you...." the fact it includes THOR plays up how much success that movie had on the international front as well.

CapIntlPoster.jpg

It looks like a painting of the actors which I find to be an interesting angle to go with for the poster.

^ I like it. I don't think I've disliked any images or promo material associated with this movie, come to think of it.

Re: CAPTAIN AMERICA-shooting July 2010:Casting, Rumors, Pics till rele

I like it to. It almost has an old action movie kind of vibe to it, which works perfectly for this.

Re: CAPTAIN AMERICA-shooting July 2010:Casting, Rumors, Pics till rele

I like it a lot actually. I love the fact that Red Skull is in the background looming over everyone else, a perfect spot for him. :) I'm really excited for this film.

Re: CAPTAIN AMERICA-shooting July 2010:Casting, Rumors, Pics till rele

what's with not having Cap in his mask on the posters?
My guess is they are selling the audience on Chris Evans in the lead? Since we know from trailers he is going to have the mask on plenty. Also, it's not uncommon for Steve to have his outfit on and mask off, granted not in combat like that poster implies but still.

Cap being frozen in ice at the end of World War II (he was trying to stop yet another nefarious plot) and then being rediscovered in the modern era is a huge part of his story. In the comics, he was thawed out in the 1960s, but since in the movies he'll be thawed out in the 2000s, the culture shock's going to be even stronger.

I'm already looking forward to the sequel. :D

Wonder what he thinks about the TOS reboot.

He hates all Star Trek. He just can't get used to this "tele-vision" thing. At least Abrams' movie is in a movie theater, where such things belong!

Re: CAPTAIN AMERICA-shooting July 2010:Casting, Rumors, Pics till rele

I really like the new trailer but I still think this film will have a very hard time on the international market. I've been following discussions about it on German sf/f forums and almost everybody's extremely sceptical if not downright hostile towards it. I don't personally know anyone who doesn't roll their eyes at the mention of a Captain America movie, except for some people who are big Marvel comics fans in the first place.

Then again, Germany is a country where any kind of patriotism has been frowned upon for decades. Maybe other countries won't have as much of a problem with it.

Isn't that a bit of the German nature?
