CAPTAIN AMERICA-shooting July 2010:Casting, Rumors, Pics till release

Re: CAPTAIN AMERICA-shooting July 2010:Casting, Rumors, Pics till rele

Robert Downey Jr. never once stretched my credibility as Tony Stark. From the first second I heard about him, I knew he was going to nail it.

IMHO, John Krasinski as Steve Rogers makes as much sense as Russell Brand as Thor.

Still would have been better than Dane Cook.

From the Moviehole article:
Says the site, "Hedlund was on Marvel's original wish list but didn't test at first. Scheduling was cited, but I also heard his reps balked when Marvel informed them that the job would include options for 9 future films and a salary around $300,000."
That's 150,000 in Obama-tax-hike-dollars. It's no wonder Marvel is having so much trouble casting this film. This is Captain America, you studio pinheads. Spend some money!

Aww... it's always personal with you, TheBrew, isn't it?

My apologies to everyone else. The abovenamed poster is trying to bring a TNZ fight into this thread.

I hear the studio really wants Hedlund.
I'll have to take DarkHorizons.com opinion that he "has the most ability to disappear into roles". I've never seen him in any of those listed credits. I've seen some of Troy but never have finished it.

No joke! Seems Marvel wrote the script for this already in some fashion.

So the article now states Kasinski and these other 4 are now the lead choices with Kasinski still the favorite?

Can't wait to see how this shakes out.

actually i read somewhere in an earlier post that news is Krasinski is out as well as the others he was mentioned with, he dropped out of the race and signed on to do some rom com, called Something Borrowed.

And you were trying to drag a completely unrelated political argument into this thread. You have no moral high ground here.

Re: ^^^^^
More about it here: http://www.moviehole.net/201023986-krasinski-not-captain-america

Shame, I was really coming round to the idea. I think it would have worked, a la Downey jr for Iron Man.

This article says he's out but I'd like something more official but it doesn't mention the RomCom part you said.
If you read that elsewhere could you bring it over?
Thanks. :techman:

John Krasinski joining 'Something Borrowed'
Actor to co-star with Ginnifer Goodwin in film and its sequel

John Krasinski is in negotiations to join Ginnifer Goodwin in Alcon's romantic comedy "Something Borrowed."

The script centers on a Manhattan attorney (Goodwin), the consummate good girl, who falls in love with her best friend's fiance on her 30th birthday.

The project is based on a series of novels by Emily Giffin. Alcon also picked up rights to the second book, "Something Blue," with a plan to develop a sequel.

Krasinski's deal is rare in that it is a two-picture deal for a role -- he will play Goodwin's friend and confidant -- more supporting in nature in the first movie but which evolves into the male lead in the second one.

Luke Greenfield is directing the first pic, now eyeing a spring start.

Alcon heads Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson are producing with 2S principals Hilary Swank and Molly Smith. Aaron Lubin and Pamela Schein Murphy of Wild Ocean Films also are producing.

The CAA-repped Krasinski, best known for his work on NBC's "The Office," is slowly building a career in features through key roles. He gained favorable notices for his performance opposite Meryl Streep in "It's Complicated" and recently tested for the lead in "Captain America."

This thread has got me into trying to find some good Captain America comics. I'm going to find Steve Rogers origin story.

Re: CAPTAIN AMERICA-shooting July 2010:Casting, Rumors, Pics till rele

^I suggest picking up The Marvels Project by Ed Brubaker (the current Cap writer) and Steve Epting (former Cap penciller) once it comes out in Trade Paperback. Steve Rogers/Cap doesn't show up until halfway through, but it is so far the best depiction of the pre-WW2 era of the Marvel U yet produced.
