Captain America: Civil War - pre-release discussion, news, rumors, etc

...and Tony believes that he has to stop being a loner and start following the rules (because he feels guilty about Ultron).
Actually, it really does go back way further than Ultron. Recall that in the first Iron Man movie, in what could be considered his defining moment, he came to the realization that he had become a part of a system with zero accountability. His actions in Civil War make perfect sense in that he is desperately trying to not repeat any of the many mistakes he has made, going back to pre-Iron Man days.

It must have been difficult for the costume designers to come up with something that looks still looks classic and yet is different enough from the previous movie costumes to be distinct.
So, to distinguish it from the previous good ones, they came up with one that looks a bit sh!t...

I think the suit is great. Even ignoring the awesome eyes, its still probably the second best Spidey costume after the Sam Raimi version. Its definitely better then the first ASM costume.

I think it's an odd choice to go so low-tech looking and basic (compared to previous Spidey movie costumes) and then put the high-tech blinky eyes on it, but we'll see how it plays in the film.
The eyes just have adjustable irises on them. No more high-tech than his webshooters.

I think maybe the internet needs to take a bit of a breather, and realise it was two seconds of trailer they are basing a judgement on........

I loved what I saw sofar, but I'm gonna do something radical, and actually form an opinion on it AFTER seeing the entire movie.......

I was talking to a friend yesterday who's brother works for one of the effects houses in London and who worked on Civil War and they at the effects house were amazed that the trailer version of Spiderman was used given it's far from complete, too cartoony and just looks like shite.

Brother of a friend sounds like a bit of an idiot.

And he thinks that the shot I just attached is unfinished CG?

Yes, hard to believe I know as you're clearly making issues over it, but yes, that is not the 100% finished article concerning Spiderman.

Yet it's the only thing that's visually fancier than what was going on with the previous suits.

What, you mean like...?

but we'll see how it plays in the film.
A little ahead of you there, smarty-pants.

Fancier isn't always better. Spider-Man's costume is one of the most classic, well-designed superhero costumes ever, which is why it's changed so little over 55 years and been modified so little in the movies. It's hard to go wrong by just being true to it. The one costume that really tried to do something different was the first Andrew Garfield costume, and it wasn't that well-received.

That's kind of my point...the overall costume seems very old-school compared to the previous movie outfits with their raised webbing and whatnot, so it's an odd choice that they'd slap such a flashy upgrade on it as the expressive eyes. Other than the eyes, this one looks the most like something that Peter might have credibly made himself if he had a really good home ec teacher...so it'll be all the odder (in relationship to the previous movie outfits) if he had Stark's help with this one...whereas his previous film outfits were presumably made by Peter with no help, but seemed beyond the capabilities of a teenager to make in his bedroom.
