It's not much, but that blade Copperhead used to slash Sam's armor was apparently supposed to be a refined Adamantium blade. This would be why Sam was wondering how he got cut, and would show us that a true counter to Vibranium now existed and could neutralize its effectiveness. So this has major implications for future Black Panther stories.

Unfortunate casualty of reshoots. I had heard Giancarlo Esposito (who chewed the scenery in this as well) was added in reshoots and Copperhead was removed, but the adamantium blade was news to me. It's a shame because for anyone who knows where to look, you can tell there was more to the story, and that the theatrical release was cobbled together from something else. I had the same vibes when seeing Suicide Squad (2016) and Justice League (2017).

Actually, that's more an urban legend than truly verified. They rarely take that much.

Plus it varies based on movie studio pull. Disney asked for 65% of the ticket sales for The Last Jedi with a 5% additional fee if the movie chain did not show The Last Jedi as the primary movie in its biggest seat screen for a full 4 weeks. The Force Awakens had been 64% of ticket sales (altho no penalty stipulation then)

Detractors? No its been explained for years for all movies. Overseas theaters get a lot more than us theaters. About 50% of the take. Its already been stated in several box office predictions that it needs to make over 400 mil to break even.

The theaters take half of the box office. You know that, right?

I know starting with one of the Star Wars prequels that figure started to change a LOT. Theaters didn't start getting their cut until the movie had been in it's second, third, or even fourth week.

But I don't run a cinema so I don't know what the rules are now.

At one point, Disney was known to get about 65% in the domestic market for flagships but the row of duds they have had means that they likely aren't getting them on every film.

People tend to use 50% as a rough rule of thumb.

Regardless of that - If your film costs 180 million before P&A, nobody in Hollywood will consider it a success at less than 400 million.

Sonic 3 - which has a budget of $122 million and has taken $483 million will be profitable.

But the question was the size of the theaters' share of the box office, and that it was raised after the poor box office performance of Disney movies in the last couple of years. It's swell and dandy that these movies did really well in streaming, but if they underperform at the box office, theaters have to negotiate for a higher share of it, and Disney is in less of a powerful position to negotiate against this.
