Capaldi=cancellation?

Downside... I don't want to fancy the Doctor! And I can tell you, Catherine looks good at 9am...
(It was just before an early morning preview screening. Our conversation ran to "Could you pass the orange juice?" "Sure, is that the coffee next to you? Any chance of swapping?")

There's zero evidence right now that the next Doctor will be female

I know. I just based that on my Jedi intuition.

However, after seeing "Deep Breath," I am now very happy with Capaldi and I hope he stays in the role for a while. The man just exudes inherent Doctorishness.:techman:

If we're predicting history repeating itself, I predict Doctor Who will get cancelled shortly after Star Trek returns to the telly.

True, that! There seems to be an unwritten law that Doctor Who and Star Trek cannot be on the small screen at the same time.

^ Um, for the entire run of ST:TOS, DW was on the air!

Mr Awe

True, but was Doctor Who being aired in the States during that period? Was Trek being shown in the UK?

Otherwise, there really is a strange set-up of Trek and Doctor Who avoiding each other. The plug was pulled on classic Who when TNG was in its third season, and aside from the 96 movie, there was no Doctor Who during Star Trek's "modern run." Enterprise was cancelled right when Doctor Who was returning to TV, and Trek XI was released during Tennant's "gap year" in 2009. The closest we've gotten recently to Star Trek and Doctor Who having new product at the same time was last year, STID was released the same weekend Name of the Doctor aired.
