Can't be spoilers as it's only just starting, but I must say

THANK GOD FOR MUSICAL CUES, OTHERWISE I WOULDN'T KNOW WHAT TO FEEL!

I listened to the full extended version and I think it sounds much better than the one as heard in the opening of The show. You can actually hear the theme, whereas on the show it seems washed out and diluted. And I don't really like that bit at the beginning very much, which must be the "orchestral" portion a lot of people are griping about.

That said, I suppose in time it'll grow on me, albeit like an ugly fungus.

I've said it before and I'll say it again:

I'll take a big, bombastic score any day over a boring, droning little score like what they used on Berman-era Star Trek, even if it does get distracting sometimes.

Yeah, but this score isn't really bombastic. It kind of hides the exciting elements under a layer of monotony. That's the primary complaint here, I think.....

I mean, it's still one of the better themes out there, but it's missing something. It just doesn't push the excitement like the previous theme did.

This. Totally this. Murray Gold's music gets noticed, is catchy, and memorable. Modern day Trek's music, with very few exceptions, is bland and forgettable.

Most of it, sure. It's just this theme arrangement which is a misfire, not the bulk.

I don't understand why people are constantly comparing the musical choices of Doctor Who to those of a television series that went off the air five years ago.

JUST WATCHED THE ELEVENTH HOUR AGAIN. I CAN HEAR THE THEME FINE.

however i do agree that it is somewhat washed out, but having grown up with Who since i was a kid, i know the cues and main theme body. However, if i were casually watching it one night without a clue in hell as to waht it was, i could just about make out a theme.

All in all though, i like it very much. But thats due to the 70's inspired Who theme underneath MURRAY GOLD, MURRAY GOLD, MURRAY GOLD, MURRAY GOLD, MURRAY GOLD, MURRAY GOLD, MURRAY GOLD, MURRAY GOLD, MURRAY GOLD, MURRAY GOLD, MURRAY GOLD, MURRAY GOLD, MURRAY GOLD, MURRAY GOLD,

Yeah, that's a real conundrum. Maybe it's because we're in the Doctor Who section of a Star Trek forum?

And thats a fandom paradox as it is.
