<John Cleese Voice>: "Why don't you try a kiss boy!"
I have a theroy why jj has changed the canon .its because that failed show enterprise screwed up our beloved trek history ,just joking . As much as i'm a fan of tos up to yoyager trek canon is all over the place , but at the end of it you enjoy watching what every trek you enjoy and not go oh that not canon ,yes we do after look deeper into the show and how much canon affects our trek .My point is i love my tos but i'm willing to watch the new movie as newer vision of gene's trek .
Not the best grammer, but still about the most brilliant post I've read here since this all started.
Of course, canon is dead. It had to die sometime and rather as you say, it just got incredibly jumbled over the many 'new' Star Trek productions. Like anything in the universe, things fall into entropy. They get more and more messed. That's great when you're moss or an exploding star, but for any human endeavor it's always the sign of the coming end.
Trekkies have been complaining that 'canon' is hopelessly screwed since VOY at least. Thus, I find it

worthy that people cry about canon for the new Trek film. Especially since all the productions have been terrifically 'consistent' with the setting, but fast and lose with it's history and details. Enterprise changed loads of facts. Some films did. The list goes on. Time travel alone has screwed any consistent history in Trek so badly Trekkies today universally dislike time travel storys!
And it's all for naught. The new film looks
wonderful. And that's all it needs to be.
