CANCELLED

I must say though that now we know for sure that this is the end, it will be interesting to hear what the producers will say about the creative direction for the end of the season. It sounds like from the spoilers they had this eventuality in mind, but I wonder if now given that they have the time they will make any tweaks to the final episode(s). Coto mentioned that filming on this season finishes in March, so they probably have the time to change a few details of the finale and possibly the last couple of episodes just as Whedon did with what was then the season finale of "Angel".

Excuse me my wording, but shit dammit  Gone for a few hours and then this. I wouldnt have believed it would actually come this far... :scream:

Reading that Les Moonves just reached a decision, I suppose the last ratings barely above 2.53 hit the nail into the coffin! :o

For how more years does Paramount have a contract with Rick Berman and Branon Braga ?

I say when the the contract with those two expires sign a new contract with Manny Coto, he's proven himself, or he will prove himself by the end of the season.

Fucking UPN. If it wasn't for the loss of jobs to innocent bystanders, I would wish that it sinks into a black hole and dies.

Ah, what the hell. I hope UPN sinks into a black hole and dies.

I'm pissed as well.

Thank God, Shiva, Baal, Budda, G'Quan, the Gu'alld, Big Brother, what ever!!!!

Warning for trolling.

Cool, my first warning, although I don't see how it's trolling. Is this thread for gushers, and bashers not allowed? If so state that in the thread title, and start one for the bashers. At any rate, my opinion is as valid as anyone elses, and my opinion is that i'm glad its cancelled.

See my posts above (should be on page  and in the etiquette thread and in the beginning of this thread about not gloating. Saying respectfully that you're glad it's cancelled is okay. The way you posted was not.

Ok, whatever. I accept the warning. Just for record, I was trying to be comical, not.... goading. May I quote Bill Shatner?: "Get a life people! It's a TV SHOW!!"

This totally and completely sucks. We'll likely have no more new Trek of any sort for years .... if ever. I put ALL the blame on that worthless piece of crap network UPN.

eh, fans prolly said the same thing about TOS when it was canceled

and look what spawned from it!

this isn't the death of the franchise, it will endure

someday there will be a resurrection

i wouldn't necessarily blame UPN

i'd blame the 3 bad seasons under B&B

the fourth season was Ent's best so far

My god. This is simply awful news. I am too upset to get angry or call people bad names, but this is just astoundingly horrific. I loved Star Trek: Enterprise, I supported it from the very beginning, and I had hoped Paramount and UPN would let bad ratings slide for a fifth season that would be spectactular and use this new awesome creative energy from Manny Coto but alas here we are. I guess last year was a final option, one last chance, and it was blown.

I don't blame Les Monoves, although he's not on my list of People I Like at the moment. He had to do something incredibly drastic, and thus he did. Perhaps it's for the good, who knows. I loved Enterprise very much and I really, sincerely hope come May 13th (a day after my birthday-- what a bummer) that it won't be the last time we see Captain Archer and crew.

Although it does look like this will be the last time we see Star Trek for a long time. I'm guessing Rick Berman's movie pitch didn't go so well, and I really doubt after this that we'll see another feature film. I'm not surprised really, but still awfully upset and petrified. Enterprise was my favourite television program to watch.

This is a very sad day for Star Trek. But let it be remembered for something more-- the end of one era...the beginning of another. Let's make sure Star Trek doesn't die forever...this is just a small learning curve. Let's make it into a home run.

On a side note, I do wish that as a fan base we can raise ratings for the next few months. I know it's a lot to ask, but let's give our favourite show the respect and courteously it deserves-- let's end this party with a bang.

Who's with me?

Berman and his lapdog Braga destroyed Star Trek. They had a losing record for years and years and Paramount would not fire them. I wonder if Berman is very pleased now. Maybe one of those casting couch babes can consul Braga and make him feel better.

They not only destroyed Trek on TV, but destroyed the movies as well. They were cheap 2 hour tv episodes. I watched Sacrifice of Angels and then I watched Nemesis. Nemesis was terrible and contained nothing impressive. Sacrifice of Angels(DS9) was a freaking tv episode and it was a millions times more impressive. Get Geriatric with Picard-action hero!

Coto was good. He actually started to make things work again, but after Berman and Braga launched two nuclear torpedoes into Star Trek, it was way too late. They were just damn lazy about the show. Hey, I got a great idea! We will do a prequel of a show that we never fucking watched! We didn't just not watch the show- we pride ourselves on not watching it!

Photon(ic) torpedoes and Phase(er) pistols-how inspired! It was the 24th century and the crew was even perfect. They even had a prime directive without having a prime directive. The only time we saw a planet devastated by intervention was when Archer used the prime directive in Dear Doctor. B&B were like kids that wait till an hour before class to work on their research paper.

Time Travel again-the old crutch. Future guy-who is he. We still don't know.

The two good points of the series-Trip and Coto. Trip was the only actor on the show that had charisma. Could Reed have been any weaker? We didn't want perfect characters, but that was in their "enlightened 24th century" perfection. Reed was just unlikeable. A weak, whiny little bitch. T'pol was a crack whore. Archer got his ass kicked more than any other Captain on the show, week after week. That black guy flying the ship-he barely had a part. When a quality actor came on the show, you could really see the difference-that Major Hayes guy.

Hopefully B&B will be fired permanently from all movies and television.

Sigh. Today was such a good day too. I will miss it greatly. This show made my life a little bit better. :(

I can't believe it :(

Something as bad as Voyager, which destoryed Star Trek, gets 7 seasons, yet they cancel Enterprise at 4?

What a back asswards world.

I've been coping with this dreadful news by trying to find some bright spots amid the gloom. Here's a few things that have cheered me up a bit:

* We got the excellent, totally great Season 4 when it almost didn't happen. Cancellation seemed imminent last year. So the best season of Trek in years is almost like a bonus.

* All four seasons of ST:E wil be available on DVD this year for high-quality viewing.

* The good folks at Pocket Books will hopefully create a series of Enterprise "relaunch" novels. They've done a great job with continuing the DS9 story, hopefully they will do the same with Enterprise.

* It seems to me to be the end of Berman & Co.'s tenure in charge of Star Trek. When the franchise returns someday, I doubt they'll still be running it. Perhaps someone with a fresh approach (one Manny Coto perhap??) will be tapped to create a new series.

* The advanced warning means the cast/crew behind the show can dedicate their all to making the final episode the best ever, and hopefully wrap up some things like the founding of the Fed, etc. And we don't have to worry about a "Farscape" fiasco of ending the show on a cliffhanger.

* Unlike when TOS was cancelled (long before my time, admittedly) there is some really good genre stuff out there to fill the void. I'm loving the new BSG, a Firefly movie is coming out, a new Dr. Who is being launched, etc. So my sci-fi fix can still be found.

All of that said, I'm going to miss Archer, Trip, T'Pol, Phlox, Reed, Mayweather, Hoshi, and most of all PORTHOS! I'm so grateful, though, for four seasons of this show, problems and all.

Hi, all.

Just heard the news, as I was in class all day...

Anyway, I'm not too dissapointed, as I kind of prepared myself for this way back last season. At the same time, it's sort of a mixed blessing. We all know what happened to TNG and VOY in their last two seasons. How many of you would really want that to happen? While I wished ENT could have one more season to wrap up a few more things and explore a few more, at least it's going out with a bang.

And someday, if and when Star Trek is resurrected, we should be fortunate enough to have a creative force behind it to make it succeed. I don't blame LEs Moonves for ENT's demise, nor do I blame UPN. B&B alienated its fanbase by shitting over VOY in season six and seven, then writing bad scripts for ENT.

*Sigh*

Good-bye, Enterprise. We hardly knew ye.

:wtf:

Ok, and now warnings are being handed out for quoting the actors.

So, who else was looking forward to seeing Marina and Jon in uniform again?

And as for my warning....

Screw you Stewey and your cancel Enterprise crew.

Warning for flaming. Please stop with comments like this, it's not worth it. Just cool down guys.

I kept quiet for all of certain peoples ramblings and rantings, so I accept this awar...warning as a badge of honor. But please check that it's only one warning. I know it looks as though two of you warned me for the same offense.

Badge of Honor?....... Stewey didn't even post a comment here yet all of the people who gloated in this thread you ignore them but bash the guy that kept silent. You must be proud.

Normally, I would agree with that, except that many VOY fans felt B&B betrayed them also. And they did by completely ignoring it in its last two years to work on ENT (Which they didn't do a very good job with, either).

Neither VOY nor ENT were truly bad ideas. They were just squandered, but VOY had the bonus of coming off the wave of TNG Fever. By the time ENT came, we'd all had enough of that.

This is sad news indeed.

I lost interest for a while during the second season, but season three was riveting and season four has been the best Trek since the Dominion War.

I will savor the final ten episodes.

Thanks to the cast and crew for all their efforts.

Quit it both of you before more warnings have to be handed out. Discuss the show, not each other.

This is really saddening...

but we are NOT gonna give up just yet are we ?

Guys, there's ALWAYS hope... even when the odds are against you, keep the hope alive... have faith.

If you truly like the show, then stop with the gloom and doom and DO something to try to save Enterprise...

It's never too late to do anything.

There's always an alternative, and we only have to find it.
