Maybe we should all write letters to Sci-Fi and other channels hoping they will pick it up. (Trying to stay optimistic here.)

We need to right some letters, none-the-less. Get some addresses anf phone numbers in here, pronto!

If ENOUGH people wrote letters to SciFi saying how much they love SciFi and Star Trek, do you think they may be willing and able to talk with Paramount? They may if there was enough volume.

I think someone with great writing skills and persuasive arguments needs to write a couple versions of a form letter that everyone could send.

Hell, what a crappy start to the day :(

While I dont consider Enterprise to be the best of Trek, I did enjoy it a great deal for most of it's run. It deserved another season!

Let us hope that the franchise does recover from this, and that we have a new Star Trek television show on air (or atleast a new movie) for the 50th aniversary.

Until then, Star Trek will live on in the capable hands of the people at PocketBooks. I for one am interested to see what they can do with an Enterprise relaunch.

I'm not sure why everyone's pissed at UPN. They did their best to keep this show on. Moving it to Friday was a great choice for getting a fourth season, which has been better than the rest.

The show never recovered from the first two and a half seasons of lackluster episodes. People stopped watching. Now that it's good, people aren't watching. It's the same process with all TV series. Enterprise has probably gotten more breaks from a network than any other series, and it's because of you all.

Instead of being pissy, you should thank UPN, thank each other, thank the cast for a great forth year. Three thoughts come to mind:

1. All Good Things must come to an end.
2. It's not What You Leave Behind, but how you left it (watch the reruns in syndication and buy the soon-to-be-overpriced DVDs!)
3. The Undiscovered Country of Trek is exciting to me. In a few years, Paramount will probably replace Berman with someone fresh and innovative, and like Fawkes the Phoenix and brand new, awesome Trek series will be born from the ashes of this series.

The problem with this is that cause Moonves controls the Paramount Studio as well, that make the show, it seems like he wants NOTHING of Trek to be made at this point. SOOOOO it won't be available to anyone else, SCIFI, NBC, etc for purchase, cause he doesn't want it made period. Too much power for one person. I don't know what bug is up his butt but wish someone would fix it for him. To quote Robin Williams, "he is in the most need for getting laid of any white man in history" ....where is Bubba when you need him....

Hes not some ruthless dictator as I've already said. If the people in UPN (and Paramount) wanted the show to continue it would have. Don't go blameing one man...

So, how do you feel about the News Enterprise has been cancelled?

Giddy/overjoyed/ready to sing "If you're happy and you know it..."

I actually wanted to thank you, KTR, for being one of the bright spots on the boards. You always echoed what I felt about the show--that this season didn't feel like a desperate last season. It didn't act like something on its last legs. You echo my thoughts once again as to the fate of the franchise. But I too raise my glass to the show. I have really enjoyed it, and the bbs community.
Thank you, galleywest!

And yes, this season didn't feel like a desperate last season. It felt more like a fresh start, that ENT finally was becoming a true prequel, a set up for further explorations in upcoming seasons.

This is so sad! There's so many stories yet to be told in this era of the Trekverse - the growing influence of Earth, the forming of alliances, the Romulan war and the birth of the Federation. And now they'll never be told :(!

Damn.

Would the last one off the bridge please turn off the viewscreen....

And mind you I've been teary-eyed for the past few minutes, but that made me chuckle inside.

To good memories!

I'm just really sad now. I've only been watching since summer of 1992, but since I'm only 22, those 13 years have been more than half of my life. Star Trek has always been there and has inspired me in my interest in space and my engineering degree.

 :scream:  :scream:  :scream:

Season four was actually good. It sucks that we won't get to see a detailed Romulan War ark or the birth of the Federation. And the chances of Paramount getting ENT onto another network or first run syndication are virtually nill. Obviously none of the broadcast nets will touch it and it costs to much for a cable channel. SciFi has its hands full with both Stargates and BSG. First run syndication is a long shot and would require a further slashing of the budget. The most we can realistcly hope for is either a TV movie or a mini-series.

I THOUGHT IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A FUCKING HOAX!!!
MOTHERFUCKER!!!!!!!
GODDAMITTT!!!!!!!!!!

So, how do you feel about the News Enterprise has been cancelled?

I know you're joking but I'm going to answer this anyway. I feel ill. I literally feel sick to my stomach. It's actual physical pain not only because my favorite show has been cancelled, but because I feel pathetic for feeling this way over a damned TV show. I feel even worse because I came back to check my thread where it was revealed that it was a hoax, but it turns out that the hoax was a hoax. I feel that I'm done with the Trek franchise. I don't care to watch any new Trek movie or show unless it's Enterprise. They're not getting another dime out of me. I can get the DVDs I want without buying them. I'm just done with the whole thing.

Charlie, respectfully, I can blame anyone I please, he is the captain of UPN and Paramount, so it is his doing period. If he wanted it to continue it would, plain and simple. I t doesn't fit his mental picture of UPN for the future and he has done all he can to achieve his end. YMMV, but I am entitled to blame who I want @ this time. He is guilty until proven otherwise.

As I posted on another forum, I'm so sorry to hear ENT is gone! Though I hadn't gelled with the series, myself (and don't have UPN here in my new location), I'd heard how much better it was getting from friends still watching.

My condolances.

I'm afraid nobody's listening. I said much the same thing, albeit less diplomatically, and it didn't even slow the kneejerk UPN bashing. :p

If it hasn't been said yet, this WILL go down as the stupidest network move since 1969 when NBC did it to TOS...

You never saw "The Will" on CBS, did ya?

edit - cuz it was on CBS, not ABC. Fixed.
