I for one commend Les Moonves for making his decision and announcing it early enough so that two things can happen;
It gives the producers the time to craft a series ending that is not simply thrown together. Secondly, and more importantly, it gives the cast and crew a heads-up prior the next years pilot season.

I enjoyed Ent more than any other of the TV incarnations and thought that TNG stayed at the movies at least two or three installments too long.

I agree about the timing. Better to know now and let everyone move on than wait until the last minute. I have seen every episode of every tv incarnation and movie put out and have enjoyed them all. I will miss Trek on television but life goes on and maybe a break will be good.

Personally, I think the final straw was BSG drawing a higher rating than Enterprise. It showed that there simply was no audience for Trek.

Grand Slam in Pasadena ought to be interesting next month.

^ I hated "Faith of the Heart" before it was the damn theme, now it takes it rightful place as Enterprise's funeral dirge.

The theme song does sort of sum up Enterprise for me in a nutshell. It was kinda of a average choice from the beginning, but they just stuck with it.If they'd had the courage to change the theme song, things might have been different...

Poor poor Enterprise. I admit, I haven't watched the show in a while, but this is still very sad. :(

Could it be possible that the ratings will have a major spike because of this announcement?

Although it does cheer me up that UPN will die shortly behind Enterprise. Well done UPN

I've already phoned a group of friends and organized an impromptu party :D

We're going to watch our favorite TNG and DS9 episodes as well as some recorded TOS :)

Another warning for trolling.

How can you POSSIBLY warn this guy for that comment?!?!?!? Seems like a few mods are trigger happy. You say that you give warnings to people that 'don't add anything to the discussion'... what would that be? There's not a lot you can 'add' to this discussion except your own feelings. This guy was expressing his.

thanks. i dont understand why he has a devil may care attitude toward us. shit jolene blalock should tell him where to go

Even though I wasn't the biggest Ent fan (not for the first 3 years anyway) this is really sad news. S4 was a huge improvement in my eyes and it's sad that it doesn't seem to have helped. I'd love to be able to thank Manny Coto and all the other writers for the great job they've done so far this season. The show was starting to become what I always wanted it to be. Dealing with Andorians, Vulcans, Tellerites and Romulans and all that stuff. Meeting those TOS alien races for the "first time". Well lets hope it gets picked up elsewhere.

I'm really sad at this announcement, we've living in the fence with this decision for a while now, and unforrtunately it went the way a lot of us had hoped it wouldn't. Right now i'm just glad that we have this great 4th season to go out with, maybe it hurts more that it was gettin so good, but hey, I'm gonna miss it.

It's taken me hours for this to really sink in. I can't hardly bring myself to grips with the fact that for the first time since the 1986-87 season, there will be no new Trek on the air this fall. While it's not entirely unexpected that the series would be cancelled, I too, was probably holding out hope against all hope that the series could continue. Maybe if enough fans saw and heard how well the show was doing this season, perhaps the ratings could come up. Well, that didn't happen. I wonder if this is how fans felt when the original show was cancelled. Granted, they didn't have the large back catalog of Trek that we have, but it has been 36 years since a Star Trek series was cancelled. And this one has, IMO, been cancelled ahead of its time.

I will miss Enterprise. I will miss seeing new Trek on the horizon regardless of form. While admittedly, it's kind of a relief to know that I can finally stop recording Trek episodes after 18 years, but still there's going to be quite an empty space there.

No new Trek on the horizon for probably years now. Shame that it had to come to this. I knew that Voyager was going to the well once too often, and that Enterprise suffered from that condition from time to time, but I guess we should be grateful for what we got. At least this last season has been top notch, which has been a long time coming...

This is probably the best news I've heard about Star Trek for a long while.

While I have enjoyed some of Enterprise, it never broke new ground, never took any real chances or fully utilized its concept. As time went on, my interest waned because at its core, Enterprise was always about 'playing it safe.'

Star Trek needs new blood. New writers, new directors, new show runners and new concepts. This will not happen under the present system at Paramount. The only way that Trek can be relevant again is to die and be reborn through someone elses eyes.

The new Battlestar Galactica is a perfect example of how a concept that faltered under poor execution can be remade into a compelling drama. Trek needs the same treatment, it needs people completely unassociated with the show and its legacy to take a new and fresh look at the concept and its potential.

Enterprise was cancelled because not enough people watched it.

Lots of people knew about it. But few people watched it.

In fact, more people watched it at the start, then watched it in recent years.

They moved it around and re-tooled it a little bit.

But it made little difference.

People still didn't want to watch it.

And now it is gone forever.

Pity.

Please take it to Moderator Actions. In brief, the guy was warned, someone responded with a flame and was also warned, then the poster made another comment in response to get the last word in - that meets the definition of trolling in my opinion, he tried to carry things on.

On with the thread.

Just to think that the name Les Moonves will live in infamey, The man who killed star trek! start making those avatars now.

in my opinoin, the new battlestar galactica doesnt come close to encroaching the qullity of enterprise

I stopped watching galactica half way through the premier, it was that bad imo

Ouch. I can't anything that hasn't already been said, but I will say that I am definitely sorry to see it go. They were really hitting their stride this season.

and this is what gets renewed, please. todays producers wouldnt know good science fiction if it smacked them in the face. the people who sanction this drivel need to be shot
