In version 5, can you print several tracks on one sheet, or do you have to print out each track individually?
Yes I can read music (I'm also a fellow guitar player). Most of the other posters have pointed out the timing errors. Jadzia's explanation is spot on.
As for non rhythmatic elements. Your composition is in the key of D Major, with intervals of I, VI, IV, V.
I had a quick play of what you provided, within 4/4 of course. Not too bad sounding I even decided to follow it up with a second part, but its your song man, so keep at it.
Captain M, this is one of my favorite original songs. Most of it is built around this simple phrase. If you have an idea for another section that might help expand it's appeal, I'd love to hear it. Jadzia did indeed help me correct my timing problem, so that is fixed. I'm also getting a grip on dots and rests thanks to my friends here on BBS.

Finally, I know enough about something music-related to be helpful! Well, I know a good amount about singing, but everyone just ignores me. I swear, the next time another singer says to me "Warming up is stupid, just sing!" they're getting punched in the throat. Then, I can say smugly: "If you were warmed up, you might be able to to talk right now."
Actually, I don't care. If another singer wants to limit their range and run the risk of straining their diaphragm or vocal cords, that's their decision. I've done both enough times that I know better.
I have been playing guitar for 30 years myself and I don't read music too well either.
Guitar is difficult to play from sheet music. The fingering isn't always apparent. That's why tablature is a thing.
I know how to read sheet music, but I can't play from it. Or from tabs for that matter. Dyslexia is a bitch.
I can, however, sing from sheet music. Which I don't understand because, in addition to my aforementioned difficulty in reading it fast enough to be useful, I never have any idea what notes I'm singing; I do it all by ear.
I think the best thing which sheet music does for me is help me where I may be having some timing issues. Timing is one of my weak points. But if I can see the measures marked off it helps me a great deal.
Just a reminder that you're notating this in "4/4 time," and I haven't yet seen anyone explain that...
In music, the top number of the Time Signature fraction is the number of beats in the measure, and the bottom number is the type of note that gets the beat. In 4/4, there are four beats in the measure, and the quarter-note gets the beat. The reason your software is giving you that red, something is wrong message, is because the number of beats don't add up to four; You're short an 1/8th of a beat. In the first bar, you're short half a beat, and the correction, as you've explained what you're looking for, could be made by dotting the quarter on beat one, or adding an 1/8th rest after the quarter on beat one.

Inspired by this thread, I began making a little computer program at the weekend for making music. This evening I have it in a working state. 
There are a few minor bugs, and not all instruments work yet, but you can load and save your creations, which is most important.
I've had this idea for quite a long time. Have a play, and see what you think of it.
