Can you drink a changeling?

I'm watching that episode with Q on DS9, and Quark is talking to Odo, and finds out that he shifted into a wine bottle.

And that led me to ask.
Can you drink a changeling? And then excrete it? I mean really. How does that work? Changelings ARE liquid-esque, right?

A changeling in either an altered form or its native form is probably drinkable, but I don't think I'd want to see how a changeling on the rocks tastes.

A changeling could kill a "solid" from the inside out in a variety of horrific ways. Imagine being ripped apart at the cellular level as the changeling permeates your cell membranes and then changes its viscosity... slowly. Or your skin being pulled apart through the pores and sweat glands. Or tearing apart your vascular system. Or... well, you get the idea.

A changeling is of one piece. You couldn't dip your hand into Odo's bucket and scoop out a portion of him. A glass of wine is filled with individual complex molecules which make up the fluid, you would have to swallow Odo in one long pull.

Another reason to thank God I was born a man.

Ew, what a weird question!

I'm surprised that the Founders never thought of infiltrating the Federation through its drinking supply. They could get inside someone's digestive system and then explode their host in all manner of different ways.

I know right!
These are the questions I ask myself when things are slow. This one just happened to be Trek related, so I decided to pose the question to outsiders.

But another thing, changelings cant separate themselves and then regroup, becoming a whole being again? Like... if someone drinks a changeling, can they sweat, urinate, and defecate the thing, then it'll just... regroup?

I'm sure your gender would not prevent you from swallowing Odo. You just need to have more faith in yourself. ;)

This topic reminds me of several interesting fanfics I have read, many of them involving Weyoun, whose gender was no impediment to various imaginative scenarios, believe you me. :rommie:

But what about the blood test procedure? OK, granted, it never seemed to be very effective, but you were supposed to be able to take a blood sample from a changeling and, once cut off from the rest of the body, it would revert to its liquid state.

That would be a decidedly painful trip to the bathroom.

Who the fuck would want to?

Anyway, the Changelings, in their natural form, didn't remind me of a drink, so much as pudding, so the real question is, can you eat one, but again, why would you want to??

You can take a blood sample from human painlessly and harmlessly just as well, but drinking a changeling in portions would be the equivalent of dismembering a solid...

There's probably a Sweeney Todd crossover in that...

But Bashir had some of him in a cup once, didn't he? (He didn't drink him, he was running tests.)

You mean like an Odo-bong?

Well, there was that episode from the second season, where a kid is telling Odo a tale about a changeling who was tricked into turning himself into bread, which resulted in everyone else eating him.

So, if a changeling can be eaten after becoming bread, no reason why you can't drink a changeling who has become a drink.
