Can you make the Vulcan greeting hand gesture? I want to know if I am strange because I can't do it at all with my right hand, but I can do it automatically with my left.

yep, both hands

on a side note, I'm slightly annoyed when people hold their thumb in when they do it . . . it's not canon!
your thumb is supposed to be extended

Yeah, both hands. It took a lot of practice when I was little though. I was such a cool kid. :)

yep, both hands
Both hands, and, I can "pendulum" them back and forth between that and this: \ II /

But that's not impressive. What's impressive is this: put your arms in front of you like you're wearing a shield on each, and your hands in fists. Then rotate one fist clockwise and the other counter-clockwise.

I can do it, but my mind is broken. :scream::devil::drool:

:D

same here, but I didn't know how to describe it

more like holding cymbals
I do it with my pointer fingers extended and pointing at eachother

okay back on topic :D

Nope can't do it. I barely have finger snapping mastered let alone the vulcan greeting.

With my right hand it's virtually automatic, but the left requires a bit of thought which is interesting since I'm left handed.

Never had a problem doing it with either hand.

Out of context, that sounds really perverted and sad.

I remember as a kid being able to do it easily with the right hand, but with some trouble in the left hand. In about a day or two, it was smooth with both and... I'm surprised to find that I can still do it.

The arm rotation thing is tough... one arm rotating clockwise and the other counterclockwise simultaneously. I can't seem to do it except for one or two rotations very slowly, then it falls apart. That's tougher than rubbing your stomach in a circular motion with one hand and patting your head with the other simultaneously. :D

I learned it when I was a kid. Did a speech on Trek for school in Grade 4 or 5, so I had it incorporated into that. But hey, Trek was cool in the early 90's. I kind of cringe when I think about it now.

Yeah, I'm a self-hating Trekkie.

Yes. Unassisted. Both hands. Since I was 6 years old. :D

J.

Yeah, I can do it with both hands with no problems.

I can also modify the Vulcan salute and do the Mork from Ork handshake! Nanu Nanu!

:eek:WOW! I just 10 minutes ago tried to show this to my kindergarten students as an example of thing which some people can do and some cannot. I love coincidences!

Yeah, with both hands - I'm a natural...:techman:

Still facing difficulties doing the Vulcan nervepinch, though... :vulcan:

I can do the salute with both, but the left hand is easier even though I'm right handed. Does anyone think handed-ness may be related?

Both hands, starting at the age of 5. But after playing high school football, and a couple of broken fingers later, the right comes at more of an effort these days. The price one pays.
