Can you be rude to animals?

I was thinking of something, last night on the route. When people do nice things for you, the common response is to say "Thank You" or imaybe you hold a door open for a person. We humans never do this for animals. What's wierd though in some instances, animals I think can show manners of a sort to humans.

I've had outdoor cats for example to kill a bird and leave the dead bird on my porch. The idea is I think when cat's ,and I think dogs do it as well, do this they are in essence presenting you a gift. Which in their way is them thanking you for feeding them and giving them water.

I'm not sure though if animals, could in response be aware of a human showing manners towards it. They can't understand our language so you can't show manners to them in that way. I'm not sure they understand why we pet them, and feed them. How would a human show manner's to a animal in away in which she/he would understand it. If they can even grasp the concept of manners.

They usually take offence if you tell them not to lick their bums in the middle of the living room when you have guests. That sort of thing?

Yeppers, and cats hate it when their owners don't thank them after they leave a mouse by the remote.

I have sometimes said rude things to dogs in a friendly, "good-doggy" tone of voice. It's kind of funny watching them wag their tails at what they think is praise.

^ So Evil! I love it!

I love my dog too much and she's too old for me to say anything mean to her. The only time I reprimand her is if she is in danger and isn't doing anything to protect herself (ie, trying to walk into the road where traffic is so she can get the squirrel across the street).

Actually I have always heard that the reason cats give their owners dead animals is because they notice you aren't hunting and killing anything and they're worried you're bad at it and might starve to death. So in essence they are being rude to you. They are kind of bagging on your hunting skills.

"Hey man, uh, Scruffy and I have noticed you haven't killed anything in weeks, and uh, we're just a little concerned. So, uh, here man, if you need it".

Unless an animal knows how to seak english, they wont really understand the difference. They can distinguish between negative tones and positive tones but if you tell them they are an idiot in a happy tone, they will think it's positive. Sometimes, my dogs can so stupid like yesterday, while on their walk, one of them walked on the left side of a tree while I was walking on the right so of course the leash stopped us from moving and he didn't understand that he has to turn around and go my way so I tried to pull the leash to lead him the right way and he kept walking his way so I said he was a stupid dog and he didn't get it....or he was just too stupid to get it, haha, but in reality, he's a really smart dog and is bilingual but he for some reason gets stupid when it comes to walking past trees.

Guilty. And I love my dogs! But sometime they get on my nerves.

Generally I'm not rude to my pets but when they do some really stupid stuff or just don't listen at all, the rudeness appears.
