Kirk? Is that a typo, I think you meant Picard, right?

I actually love them all...Kirk, Picard, Sisko, Janeway and KirkJunior of the films, because they all make me feel like a kid, and even though the latter series I was an adult for...still has that effect of literally transporting me back in time to when I was a child, watching the first series with my brother...to me, all the Star Trek series and the films make me feel like a kid at Christmas every time I see it, makes me have faith in people that I do not see in regular life. with the exception of the one with the Archer dude, and that's only because I dislike that actor intensely. Nothing against the show, I would never have liked it with he at the helm.
My problem with Archer is that, out of the Mercury 7, it seems as if the writers thought he was Grissom or Shepard, but he seemed more like Cooper.
The Mercury 7: America's first astronauts. Some were brash, all were very self-confident, some were as good as they thought they were, some could never understand why they kept getting assigned to back-up roles (but putting in the work as a back-up was what they had to do if they wanted another flight).I have no idea what you're talking about.

Shepherd, Grissom, Glenn, Slayton, Schirra, Carpenter, Cooper. The last is the one who thought he was so good he didn't have to train, and never understood why he was always at the end of the list when assignments came open.
Thank God it wasn't that way. There was too much Trip in that show as it was. He should have been punched in the mouth in every episode.I don't mind how Archer was written...I just think that Bakula didn't have that starship captain "It" factor. He was just plain boring. I always thought it would have been better if he and Trinneer switched roles...young, maverick, short-fused captain; older, wiser friend and mentor.
Yep. Though the film inevitably uses a lot of artistic licence. Are those the ones that we see in the movie "The Right Stuff"?

Wow. I feel really stupid now....because I had no idea what you were saying either. However, my day is complete, I learned something newThe Mercury 7: America's first astronauts. Read up on them if you get the chance, and the New Nine: the second batch of astronauts, who are probably the best of the lot (partly because timing meant they got the Moon landings, partly because NASA had learnt from the first selection). Terrific tales of how success depends on timing, talent, intelligence, hard work and politics.Wow. I feel really stupid now....because I had no idea what you were saying either. I will do so, thank you. I just sort of wish there were people headed to Mars, rather than a robot....I know that in real life space travel does terrible things to the human body, which is why I just pretend all sci fi films have already figured out how to prevent that, otherwise I'd be a cynic I don't want to be LOL..Read up on them if you get the chance, and the New Nine: the second batch of astronauts, who are probably the best of the lot (partly because timing meant they got the Moon landings, partly because NASA had learnt from the first selection).
