There's a good possibility I'm misrememering, but wasn't there an occasion/occasions where the wormhole opened and closed 'by itself' indicating the passage of cloaked ships? Possibly I read this in a book, but I'd swear I can recall this happening somewhere.

That's what they thought was going on, but instead it was being triggered by a device that was connected to the Red Squad incident, all meant to stir up Federation anxiety over a fake Dominion invasion so they could seize emergency powers indefinitely on Earth. Cloaked ships in the wormhole were never presented.
