Can a 9 volt battery just explode for no reason?

So because of one incident, you're throwing out all the good ones?

Question: how many have you already used without incident?
 
I doubt it exploded for no reason, just because you don't know the reason doesn't mean there wasn't one.


Off the top of my head.


It was the 1 in X that fails

A Bad production batch

It got damaged somewhere along the lines in transit, in the shop

It got heat/cold damage somehow
 
I love that the third entry on google was in fact this thread.

And no, they can't explode for no reason. They can explode, but there will be a reason. Why not try just storing them safely?

They were sitting in a bookcase on a shelf in a cool room, a room that I might add was dry too.
 
Because that would be assaultin' battery.

^^^Nobody can really remember how it begain, some say it was a simple reply in a simple thread that got out of hand, some say there were more sinister forces at work, but everybody agree's that on this day, 300 years ago, on a wee Sci-fi board, the pun wars were unleashed, and mankind would pay the terrible price for many generations to come........or am i just being negative. :p
