Callof Duty 4 - crack or super crack?

Yeah its a fun game, i just made prestige mode where you have to do it all again.

As for COD5 i would give it a miss, Treyarch will be making it and its back to WWII just like their COD 3.

Somehow I thought that might happen. CoD owns the WW2 shooter genre, but CoD4 was - while great - too reminiscent of Rainbow Six Lockdown and that kind of thing. (which is also great).

Sooooo what does that mean.....I know that the prior COD's were WW2 (haven't played them though), and that Treyarch is a gaming developer. Did the other ones suck?
It'd be kind of shitty going to old weapons after using the new kick ass ones I'd imagine...

The previous WW2 CoD games are mostly good - Finest Hour is the best of them.

CoD 3 has some problems, though I enjoyed it, and it's graphically impressive. It's a very short single player campaign, and the thing that most annoyed me is the occasional - well, frequent - invisible wall that forces you to head straight into the guns rather than outflank an enemy position.

It's also annoying when you shelter behind a friendly tank and can't shoot for about three feet on either side because the friendly-fire blocking is so bloody vague (but that's a flaw with all the CoD games, really)

What's a kill farmer? What's zero punctuaution? I've played this game tons yet there's so much I don't know. Bless this board and its free exchange of ideas.

I actually haven't played it online yet. I finished the single player campaign a while ago, I just haven't gotten around to MP. I will eventually though.
You should get on it. Basically I feel like I could singlehandedly win the Iraq War right now.

Players whose ONLY goal is to maximize their kills (and in turn, their kill/death ratio), even in objective based games like domination or sabotage in COD4. It's particularly easy to do in sabotage because you can drop the briefcase in some open spot, go hide somewhere and shoot people when they come to pick it up. It absolutely ruins the game because these people aren't trying at all to complete the objective, but rather just pump up their kill stats. I've seen entire clans do this, which promptly leads to me quitting the room because it's no fun.

They could do this in deathmatch, but then they might actually get shot by their opponents who are also focusing on getting kills, which would ruin their precious kill/death ratio.

I've fallen in love with Call of Duty. I'd played the first and second ones, but never really got around to the third. I hadn't really heard great things about it either way; but COD4 is absolutely amazing. As far as I'm concerned, it blows the Halo Multiplayer out of the water.

I'm still not sick of Halo 3 but I may soon give COD4 a shot. I played it Live over at my buddy's place and it was pretty damn sweet. I'm too much of a Halo junkie to get into a new game online just yet, though.

I have Halo3. It makes a nice coaster. I had over 11,000 Team Deathmatch rounds on Halo2(just TEAM DEATHMATCH), and God know's how many of the other categories but Halo3 lasted until 3 days after I got COD4. I was a Halo freak-now its COD4 all of the way. I'm into my 3rd prestige as of last night. I have over 13,000 kills and while I've never cracked 100+ on HQ on shipment I did manage 72 on countdown on domination one night. Favorite perk= OVERKILL. Why? M-4 on top with a G-3 underneath. Both with nube tubes. (I can score equal to anyone who has a gun with the 'tubes) and despite the name it takes skill on, say Bloc, to single-handedly beat back the other team from a flag and hold it. I can do that at times with my over/under. And I don't have juggernaut or UAV Jammer on...
Anyway-an inside source tells me new DLC is coming. Once it does that $69 coaster of mine gets traded in for extra battery packs or a new headset. Oh, and if any of you want to see the "cheats" videos go to gamecrawler.com and put in Call of Duty 4 hidden XBOX360. You wouldn't believe some of the places I've been able to go....

I totally went and tried that out this weekend.

I felt lame after 2 rounds though and stopped.

I'm on the cusp of my 3rd prestige. I want the golden cross.

That's impressive on Countdown. Had 92 kills on Shipment this wekend, but I also had 86 deaths.

Yeah Overkill is probably my favorite too - recently I've been going with the M4 and the .50 cal sniper rifle. I like the 3 frag grenades perk too, hate having just one grenade. Lately though I've been tossing C-4 and detonating it in the air.

Cool, thank for the cheats!

Oh and my clan is "Beer" if anyone wants to join.

Is anyone else playing this on XboxLive?

I've never been a fan of the first person shooters, I'm more of an EA sports kinda guy. But this game I have to say is one of the best I've ever played. The online play is fun as hell, whether you're doing domination, headquarters or free for all, etc. You'd think you'd get sick of the game maps, but I keep on finding new spots to snipe people from, and the more you get to know the maps the funner they are to play. Also, I can kill communists. What's not to like about that? The guns are awesome, as are the perks (martyrdom is the best) and the grenades. I don't see myself ever getting sick of this game, at least until COD 5 comes out. Oh yeah and my record is 102 kills on the Shipment level doing Headquarters.

Basically I've put in 3 days and 15 hours, according to the statistics, and I anticipate putting much more time in. My girlfriend is a patient woman, and I am blessed to have her.

So is anyone else here playing?

Hey man, I agree with you. I've played it several times since it came out... it's better than Halo 3, IMO.

CoD 4 is great. The 'gunship' mish is easily my favorite out of any game I've played. Also, the 'flashback' mish was eerie, realistic, and simply amazing.

I still don't like the ranking system. I thought it would be server specific, but it seems to be persistent... which means, really, you'll suck for the first 25 levels... and since everyone is a super soldier, even getting up to 25 is difficult enough.

I think that once I am done with Assasin's Creed, I'll pick up COD4.

My gamertag is XA Ace, so add me if you want to play Rock Band, GHIII, Casserone, TF2, and Halo3/COD4 (when I trade them in).

Sadly, the 'moment' he speaks about is probably the least mentioned 'feature' of CoD4... even though it's probably one of the best game moments in 2007... and that's among Bioshock, The Darkness and Mass Effect.

CoD 4 is amazing. I have it for the PC but I'm thinking about picking up a SECOND copy for my Xbox, I like it so much.

Do you all think the Xbox version might be better? I'd of course never normally buy two copies of one game, but my computer doesn't run CoD 4 at a very high framerate, forcing me to drop the res and lose some of the pretty.

How does it look / perform on the 360?

I've played both. It just depends on which experience you like more - M+K or GamePad and Servers or P2P. That said, I only had it on medium settings on my PC.

Almost like you're playing a movie.
