Call of Duty: World at War Map Pack announced!

I'm putting across my opinion, and I directed my comments at you because I was discussing points you raised in your post. I couldn't care less whether you agree with me or not, but your comments are fair game for discussion the second you hit the 'submit' button, whether you personally want to discuss them or not.
You are the one being defensive about it all, and you are the one who keeps insisting that we're arguing, even though we're not. Or, at least, I'm not.

You can discuss my opinions all you like, I honestly don't care. I only get 'defensive' when I'm misquoted and accused of saying something I didn't.

If what you have posted here has really been you're experience of the game, and you haven't enjoyed it, then fair enough. However, it certainly hasn't been my experience, nor does it seem to be the general experience of the 180,000+ people who play it on Xbox Live every day,

I have no problem with that. And by my count, this will be the third time (the first being in the very first post I made on this subject) I've said that I respect that people like the game. Seriously, I wish I liked it too. That's why I keep playing the damn thing, in the faint hope that one day I'll finish somewhere other than last (by upwards of 100 points ) in a match.

so I thought I'd chime in with an alternative opinion (again, being as this is a discussion board), especially seeing as you seemed to be stating yours as fact, by using terms like "It's broken" and "unplayable".

No, you chimed in by telling me that what I'm saying is 'untrue' and that I'm 'exaggerating.' In other words, if I was stating my opinion as fact then you most certainly were as well.

Are we done now?

Simply untrue. The first 20 ranks are so easy to reach that you can get that far in 5 good games or so. Hardly "dozens and dozens of hours".

 holy crap, if you reached level 20 in as little as 5 games, remind me to NEVER play with you.

EDIT TO ADD: I'm probably an anomoly in that I basically agree with Unimatrix, but yet still I enjoy the game.

I love Cod 4. Cod W@W I only play for Nazi Zombies. I get my ass handed in COD 4 but it is all part of the curve in multiplayer games. And the best power up for guns in the red dot sight anyways and you get that after 25 kills. Just go on some free for alls and you can rack up the kills like no tomorrow.

My personal beef is sniper campers. Mainly b/c I'm horrible at sniping but some maps you just have to sit there and bust out your sniper and camp there b/c if you just move around you get annihilated.

Well, 5 games of something like Headquarters, where you can rack up plenty of kills and points for capturing headquarters. It takes a little longer if you're just playing S&D or Team Deathmatch.

Unless it's one of those Double XP weekends that they've been doing recently. :D

Yep. Nazi Zombies is the shit. Other than that though COD 4, for me, is a much better game. I don't mind the tanks and the levels so much as the weapons. I love the Garand as much as any other red blooded American but I've grown rather fond of my golden AK.

^
Crap how many times did you have to reset for that to happen?
What, for him to fall in love with his gold AK?

Seriously, never cared for the "gold gun" choices in 4. I wanted a gold MP-5.

While 4 had lots of good stuff, it also had intentional chokepoints on most of the maps-I know because my "bulldozer crew" and I used to grab them and dominate teams. AT least on 5 you can work around any choke points or, on some maps, blow them out of existence with a determined tank attack. The maps are what did it for me on 5-so big, so many possibilities, its like they were made for my style of play. I've always preferred a stealthy knife in the back as a means of eliminating fixed-position snipers. A gun v gun duel leaves me dry-I KNOW I'm only a mediocre shot. In 4 I often took big losses because of this but in 5 I can work their shooters by flanking or wiggling forward into grenade range, something that is almost impossible on the 4 maps(except Chinatown). Plus, I discovered an unexpected skill at blowing up tanks with satchels. Its like an electronic orgasm.;)

I LOVE blowing tanks apart with satchels.

When W@W was announced as having tanks included, I really worried. COD is an infantry combat game, and always should be.

But when I played my first match with tanks, all fears were assuaged. They're actually quite underpowered (which means they're just right for an infantry combat game). You can EASILY evade tanks, and you can rip them apart like tin cans with a well placed satchel - so satisfying.

I personally never get into a tank unless I'm just playing around - they're really little more than death traps in W@W.

They are when players like you and I are around!

I have a class set up that I use for tank maps. It has Satchel Charges, a Sticky Grenade, and the Fireworks perk. It's usually enough to bring down a tank, and end some poor guys kill streak.

I have 2-one with a rifle for maps like SeeLow and one w/MP-40 for maps with heavy cover like Downfall. But I use Camo and Dead Silence. Let's me run behind the tank, throw the satchel OVER it so it lands in front and -well, you get the idea.

I found that comment mind-boggling too!

COD? Broken?

COD4 and WaW (meaning the COD4 engine) are, by FAR, the absolute best FPS multiplayer experiences *ever*. I'm not quite sure how you could call it "broken" with a straight face (though to each his own, of course). The only thing that comes close is Halo 3 multiplayer.

Close to what? Broken?:guffaw:

That's why I tried to address what he was saying, but he went all defensive about it. I'm inclined to believe that he just sucks at the game, and is trying to blame the game for that.

Honestly, I might be able to deal with the perks - maybe. But the in game bonuses?

"You just killed 10 guys in a row. Here's a bonus that lets you kill another 10 guys in a row to get yet another bonus!" It just gets old if you're on the losing end of that gameplay mechanic.

I miss the days of CoD1/CoD2 multiplayer. Yeah, there's hardcore mode, but no one really plays it.

Yeah, that just doesn't happen. Assuming you're able to kill 3 people without dying, you get a recon plane, which is great as long as everyone on the opposite team doesn't have camoflage enabled - but really, it only tells you where people are. It doesn't help you kill them. Then let's say you kill 5 without dying, you get artillery, which rarely kills more that 3-4 people even if you place it well. Then, you kill 7 people without dying, and you get dogs, which, fair enough, can yeild a fair few kills, but it's hardly a game breaker.

I hate 10 kill streaks. I'm usually low on ammo, out of artillery strikes/dogs, out of grenades/satchel charges and confused because the other team has died and is now re-spawning in an entirely new spot that I have to ID before they shoot me. It irritates me that there is no special or "bump" for keeping a streeak alive that long...
