Long time Star Trek fan, can't believe I didn't know this place existed till now. I have a few questions.

What are some of the rules and posting etiquette that I should watch out for?

Do the majority of the fans actually exist solely within the board of a specific series?

Let's see, what other cliche things can I say to you... nah, better to just leave it at that and answer your questions.

As far as I can tell, this is a decently laid-back site. Just try not to be a total bastard to everyone and you should be fine. If you're going to have big-time spoilers in your topic, I'd suggest you make the topic's title look as such, but don't worry too, too much about it. The show's been off the air a long time, now.

Do the majority of the fans actually exist solely within the board of a specific series?

A lot of us mingle across boards. It really depends on how many of the shows we care for. We try to avoid trivial Trekkie conflict between fans of shows but it happens from time to time. Some of these series are radically different from one-another.

I have a follow up question. I imagine that the longer you are here, the higher your rank. However, how does the different ranks work across the different species? Most people are of Federation ranks, but there are some from Cardassia, and it seems like you are from Battlestar Galactica, which kind of blows my mind...

The longer you're here and the more you post, the higher your rank goes up.

Some people just have their own ranks instead of the ones auto-assigned.

There's only Starfleet ranks, the people with ranks like "Legate" purchased a premium membership which allows you to have a custom title. I used to have a premium membership and during that period my title was "Unbearably smug".

The rules aren't overly burdensome, just try not to be rude outside of TNZ (a hidden forum) and you should be okay. Swearing is allowed, but don't overdo it and don't have a curse-word in a thread title. Also, don't make a personal insult against Chase Masterson (Leeta), she's a member here. I learned that last rule the hard way.

You can post anywhere you want, but you'll find that many people tend to spend most of their time in specific forums. Some posters don't even bother with the Star Trek forums any more as they're bored with discussing the shows by this point.
