Bye-Bye Ponds?

Whether Rory will stay seems to be the million dollar question. Personally, I think they 'could' do DW with Amy and 11 (minus Rory), but they would need to address his death. I'd really like to see an end to Amy as a companion that brings everything full-circle and makes sense for the character. So if and when they do write her out, it should be different than what happened to Rose.

Just another thought, it would be really interesting if it did turn out River shot Rory and then Amy and River Song became simultaneous companions for series 7. Or even if they kept Amy as the main and River was recurring ...

Well there is also her baby (you know River). I would find it shocking if Amy consciously chose to abandon her baby to be raised by aliens so she can go partying with the Doctor.

Of course they could be planning to extend the baby River arc to season 7 but it feels like it ran out of steam already.

Hmm. I haven't enjoyed the River is Amy and Rory's baby bit. I don't like Amy as a character or Karen Gillian as an actress so I was hoping S6 would be it.

And I really hope this whole baby story is finished with this series, not carried over into the next.

I suspect she's a good actress, she just never gets actual character-based material. But I doubt the Moff would suddenly learn how to write character if there was a new companion.

OK, put your money where your mouth is. Commit right now that you're not going to watch the show if you feel that strongly about it.

The number of ticks in that column will be only a few, probably joining the one or two who never understood the concept of Doctor Who and stopped watching when David regenerated.

Knock it off. He has legitimate complaints as to why the show's artistic merit and entertainment value are at a low ebb.

He's free to criticize it and rail about not watching it. It's all he can do in the face of Doctor Who being run into the ground.

Run into the ground, legitimate complains are one thing, but saying the show is being run into the ground when it's still incredibly popular is hyperbolic to say the least.

Oh, I thought "the number of ticks in the stop watch column" was referring to how long the stopwatch will tick until she's gone. :alienblush:

I'm still enjoying her, so it works for me she's still staying for a bit yet.

I fail to understand how anyone could not like Amy Pond. She's absolutely the best companion DW has done ...

Oh well, my enthusiasm for Who drains away a little bit more.

A shame as I really like Matt and have loved some episodes (The Lodger, The Doctor's Wife) but the Moffat era really isn't working for me.

A major reason for that is Amy - nothing against Karen (who I'm looking forward to seeing on stage in a few months) but the character doesn't interest me in the slightest which is a problem when half the series revolves around her! She may be my least favourite companion in the history of Who!

Wow, even less favored than the other firey Red Head Mel?

I don't mind Mel. When you watch Trial all the way through her enthusiasm is a relief after Peri's constant whining.

And she is very good in the audios, it's a shame she's been in the US for a while so we haven't had any Mel stories recently.

This. Sadly, like Adric, they let her character turn to rubbish after the Doctor regenerated.

Adric was decent to before the regeneration?

Can't say I noticed any difference in the character before or afterwards.
