Burnham's Mutiny... Not Canon?

Random Discovery Complaint Generator:
Code:
[Insert Previous Trek Character] says one line.
IGNORE That line's been contradicted a bunch of times previously.
It's UNACCEPTABLE now, make OUTRAGE thread.
The first time someone on Discovery uses money, I will be starting an outrage thread.
I just thought I'd give some fair warning.

I know you're probably joking, but they mentioned using money in TOS
And ST:IV-TVH tells us they don't use money in the 23rd century....
...Then again, that might have just been Kirk trying to get out of paying for a meal :).

Or maybe they discontinued the use of money sometime between TOS and TVH.

Next Week's Episode, After Trek preview
They showed a preview and the admiral calls Burnham 'This organizations only convicted mutineer'

Spock doesn't know his adopted sister was the first mutineer?

What happens with Vulcans, STAYS with Vulcans.

Spock's actions and dialogue has proven this time and time again. No one knew:

- His dad was the ambassador to Earth
- His half-brother existed
- Pon Farr was a thing...
- ... and you have to battle your opponent to the death.

I'm sure there are other things I'm forgetting.

That he committed two mutinies ?

I think saying "Hey McCoy, gonna transfer my soul into you, bye lol" before the neck pinch might have been nice. Spock clearly inherited his father's proclivity for trolling.

A few thoughts about Spock's "mutinies", in re: circumstances and consequences. In one case, he was under the control of mind altering space spores. In the second, he was acting in the interests of one of Starfleet's best (but horribly crippled) captains to give his quality of life back, in collaboration with aliens that can probably destroy the Federation with a thought if they so desired.

Unlike today, mutiny is rather subjective in the 23rd century, particularly when it deals with the many things that can sieze control of / spaghettify your mind.... You gotta know when to hold em, know when to fold em, know when to walk away, and know when to run!

That reminds me, "Amok Time" probably counts, too, so that's actually three for Spock.

In that case, T'Pau essentially told Starfleet Command: "I asked them to come here -- YOU GOT A PROBLEM WITH DAT?!!" No one messes with T'Pau.

As I said in my previous post, you don't follow through with mutiny charges if it involves pissing off a species/culture much more powerful than your own.

Charged or not, he still committed mutiny on a couple of occasions and did a better job of it than foster sister. And that idiot Chekov actually followed his bogus order with out blinking!

It does not matter why, it puts lie to his line. Heck Garth mutinied as well.
