Honestly, your work looks a million times better than the effects on TOS-R. I love the model that you built and how you are approaching the recreation of the original effects work, but the detail I absolutely love the most is that you actually recreated how the stars looked in the original show! TOS-R's starfields were always a little too bland for me. I prefer the colorful stars of the original.
Thank you very kindly for the compliment! I truly appreciate it!
I don't know if you've ever seen Tallguy's work, but he puts me to shame! He puts the professionals to shame!

That's his USS Enterprise in Blender 3D. You would think it was a pristine screen capture from the original film!
That lighting has more of the "pop" that the original did, to my immediate impression.
I watched a little bit of your "studio setup" last night. You're a nutter, but you're our nutter.
Thank you, Bill! One of these days, I hope to get as good as you were years ago. (You keep getting better, and I'll NEVER catch up!)
The Studio bit was to show how effects WERE done, plus, it's been something that I've done as an image a couple of times over the years: make a render that looks like the original model in front of a blue screen. I don't know why, but that always makes me happy. I did the first one in TrueSpace and it was probably the image that got me the most comments until that time.
Hang on, let's see if I can find one:

I honestly don't think I can hold a candle to your work, but I'll try my best!
Ah yes, apologies. I completely missed the subtext you put in your original post. Sleep deprivation does odd things to cognitive perception.
Danged subtext! LOL! When I'm tired, I can't remember names. Has always been a problem for me, whatever you are called. LOL!
NP.
That's what I like to see! Everyone getting along!
