Buffy the Vampire Slayer/Angel - First Time Viewer

The Trio.

Warren is the worst.

Yes he is.

Doublemeat Palace

That kinda grossed me out, finding the finger in the meat grinder or the alien head being grind up. Was this episode an attack on McDonalds or In ‘N Out (a place very popular in California). It was weird, but willow telling Amy to beat it was great. Maybe she really is on the road to recovery.

Also meeting Anya’s friend was fun.

McDonalds was actually one of Buffy's main corporate sponsors. They were...less than thrilled.

Willow made an emotional commitment to a "person" sight unseen. Yes, that's a dice roll, but she was all-in, and it's not Moloch's fault that he is a charismatic Toaster thirst trap.

Well, maybe it is, but what choice did he have?

Helo from BSG Knocked up a Toaster, and he stuck it out, because he is a man of convictions that follows his dick into whatever calamity it generates. He's a good boy.

True, Sharon is prettier than Seven of Nine, but it is unlikely that that reject go-bot Moloch was in was Malcolm's final body. The technology was out there. In a year Malcolm could have looked like young Colin Hanks, and in 4 years Mally could have looked like young Christina Aguilar, when Willow came into her own.

They might have had a successful physical future together, if she had just waited for the parts to become available, and he didn't sacrifice her to evil.

He had the choice to not lie to her and kidnap her and casually kill people in front of her. His face really wasn't relevant to Willow's change of heart.

Dead Things

Warren is a freaking Monster. He's controlling the other two (Who are very complacent by the way) and he tried to frame Buffy for murder. That is messed up. I did love the final scene at the end with Tara and Buffy though, realizing that there wasn't anything wrong when Buffy was resurrected but it's throwing the chip off.

I think I know what the real controversial scene is in episode 19. I think this is the series where a certain troupe was born and it feels like they are playing that up as it gets closer. If I'm right, I can understand why the cast was angry during Season 7. This show played up this event so well that to turn it's back on it would be damaging. Also, this show's legacy is so large that it's been repeated so many times even to the point where a show that I follow was also impacted by it, shortly after another show did this very troupe. I won't talk about until I get to the episode but the reason why I'm saying this now is because this show has shown some pretty rapey stuff between Spike and Buffy already that I have to imagine what else could be so bad. They've already had sex, multiple times, and if it was Rape as controversial, it would have been brought up way before episode 19.

Older and Far Away

I only have two things to say about this one:

1. Spike's line about buffy not celebrating Birthday's was funny.

2. I still don't find Dawn annoying, and I still feel bad for her. Granted, stealing is wrong, but she has no one to spend time with her. She lost her mom, her Sister is always never around, she wanted to go with someone else form the gang and they all said no, and Giles is gone (Which, by the way, has kinda impacted this season for me. I miss Giles). In fact, I think they have done a pretty good job toning down Dawn this season over the last.

Decent episode, but this was a stretch where after Wrecked, they are kind of stalling until the next big thing. Granted the scene with Buffy and Tara was great but the season has taken on a bit of a meandering spin these last few episodes.

Like I said earlier, Tara really becomes the comforting shoulder for Dawn and Buffy throughout the season, and it’s so sweet. Also Tara calling out Spike (twice) at Buffy’s birthday was funny, and standing up for Willow was great.

And we see Clem again!

Clem was that weird looking guy we see as part of the Kitten poker scene? Never good with names so just making sure. Yeah not sure what to make of him. He’s decent.

I really do like where Tara has gone beyond the relationship. Like you said I think she really cares about Dawn and now she’s helping Buffy sort things out. Also her standing up for Willow was sweet.

I think that you are thinking about it too much. This is where even small spoilers are harmful. You get caught up in them and as you get closer you start making up theories and then the actual event may not even have the desired impact.

You have passed two controversial scenes already. One in "Once More, With Feeling" where some feel that Willow raped Tara since Tara was under her spell when they had sex. And another in "Dead Things".

Yeah the stuff in Dead Things was just wrong. And you’re right I’m thinking too much about it. I’m close to the point where I won’t bring it up again.

I will say this season on a whole feels like they are pushing the envelope to the line but barely not crossing it. I keep reminding myself this is a show for the younger demographic but they really are exploring mature themes like addiction, depression and rape.

Warren is the real evil of the three. Jonathan kind of saw himself as a prankster kind of villain who steals and messes with people but doesn't hurt anyone. Andrew can legit claim diminished capacity, he doesn't really think for himself.

Older and Far Away is pretty blatantly ripping off a classic Bunuel film, The Exterminating Angel. If you've seen Midnight in Paris, it's the idea for a film that the main character proposes to Bunuel, and he responds "I don't understand, why can't they leave the room?!"

Of course in that film it's all a metaphor criticizing the church.

It's funny to think back then that the people in commercials were apparently supposed to be legit testimonies instead of paid actors.

Despite what they say, I still think Chevy is doing the same thing with their ads. Of course I barely believe commercials anyway.

8 dollars for a Big Mac?

McDonald's can suck it.

One of the fun gags in the episode was a meal costing 1.92. I kinda laughed considering where we're at now with everything about $4 higher. Heck, I remember in 1999, Gas in some places was $.97. A lot has changed in the last 20 years, but like I was saying yesterday with Michelle Branch, this show is filled with nostalgia.
