Buffy the Vampire Slayer/Angel - First Time Viewer

Oh that’s right. Wesley was Doyle’s replacement. It was like transferring the Katra in Star Trek 3. Still I’m glad to know they will be a plot point. Based on this last episode they will need to do something with the vision plot soon.

Belonging

And thus starts the final arc of the season. We finally have a name for The Host (Lorne) and we meet one of his cousins from his home world. Decent start to this story, but not a lot really happened and the cousin kept saying dethwok clan a lot. Gunn has been out of action with his friends and finds out a friend of his dies. This story was basically to show how distant Gunn has gotten from his past life. It ends with Cordelia going through the portal to that home world. Should be an interesting final 3 episodes. I didn't think that commercial scene needed to be there. I guess it was shown to show how LA objectifies women, but it was unnecessary to the rest of the story.

I may be shallow (and I am), because I like to look at pretty girls, and Elizabeth Rhom was absolutely stunning. I was definitely sad when she left the show.

Come to think of it, Joss sure does hire a lot of pretty, talented women.

Elizabeth got the series regular role as the new ADA in Law & Order so that was the end of her. Did they make a one line comment about her moving to New York to become a lawyer in Season 3 or am I imagining that?

I've been waiting for you to get here.

I’m hopeful I can finish the season tonight so I will either figure out why or I will ask later.

I will say this season has been kida weird. It’s like there were three different arcs happening and now that we have this new arc to take us to the end it feels “tacked on”. I doubt we will see Darla, Lindsey, or even W & H again in the final three episodes. Of course as the season has gone on, Lorne has gotten more involved so maybe Angel as a series is transitioning again.

You could make the case that seasons 2, 3, 4, 5 are all set up this way with several mini-arcs. Most have relevance and intertwine with the others. As someone stated earlier in the thread this arc was for the sole purpose of having Angel out of the way so people wouldn't be like "why isn't Angel back for the final fight to save the world from Glory"

When I was watching Season 5 of Buffy, I didn't even think about Angel. I was thinking at how awesome Buffy as a leader was, how she had fully grown into the Slayer she was always meant to be, and how her final sacrifice left me feeling sad but really optimistic at the same time. Of course having Angel going off to another dimension is a good reason why he wasn't there. This was just the writers covering their tracks.

20 year anniversary! While a cool milestone, man time goes fast...

And yeah, that article is pretty spoilery, don't read that...

I was actually just advocating looking at the cover. Man, they all look great still. I've seen Amy Acker in a few things over the years and J August Richards is now equally part Gunn and Deathlok to me, but I don't think I've seen Charisma Carpenter in anything since Veronica Mars.

Oh, mentioning Veronica Mars... tomalak301, if you are looking for another great show with a similar wit as Buffy, a great lead actress and fantastic supporting cast, check that one out.
To me it’s Buffy’s spiritual successor, except instead of the supernatural, Veronica Mars deals with social issues and crime.

I’ve been thinking about Veronica Mars. I also like Bell in The Good Place so it sounds like I already like the cast.
