BSG's Colonial fleet vs ST Starfleet

Starfleet, because of the starships weapons

weapons, transporters, shields, sensors, ability to go to warp at the press of a button.

Any starship would be out of harms way and launching photon torpedoes before the first viper left the launch tube.

"And then magical Starfleet unicorns will fart pixie dust in the battlestars' general direction and make them go poof!"

Wow...so trekkies still think trek weapons are magical and foolproof, huh? It's like nobody's ever seen a starship in an actual fight.

Well I don't know about you but actually I've never seen a starship in an actual fight.

Anyway the correct answer is 'The Culture'.

This question reminds me of that scene in the Chase when Worf shot the Yridian ship and Riker scolds him for blowing it up.

Sell me on a win by the Colonial Fleet.

Is there even any real question that Starfleet would win? They are technologically superior in every way. And even more so if we're talking fleets, since the rest of the Galactica fleet is almost entirely incapable of self defense.

Galactica's only path to victory would be some kind of 'fake surrender' ploy. Act disabled, get them to drop shields, and boom.

Colonial ships are designed to taking a beating. The CIC, their version of the bridge is deep in the center of the ship to protect it at all costs. The various sections of the ship are designed to be able to lose pressure and only affect that particular room. Starfleet could shoot at them and possibly damage nothing critical for some time. They also have experience fighting technologically superior enemies and finding ways to exploit their weaknesses.

We shouldn't forget President Roslin, who once said this when being told to surrender to a coup.
No. Not now. Not ever! Do you hear me!? I will use every cannon, every bomb, every bullet, every weapon I have down to my own eye teeth to end you! I swear it. I'm coming for all of you!
Kirk isn't ready for this.

They are not magical and foolproof. But, you need energy shields to defend against phasers, and energy weapons to pass energy shields. Galactica has neither.

Again, there are two Galacticas. The Galactica shown in 1978 has energy weapons. So do its fighters.

And there are plenty of times in Trek canon where phaser beams have been deflected or absorbed by solid, unshielded materials. If that weren't the case anybody who ever got in a firefight with a Starfleet officer and ran for cover behind a wall or crate would be screwed, because if what you said were actually true, nothing but an energy shield would have saved them.

Hand phasers. Not ship phasers. And in Frame of Mind a phaser turned to maximum setting can take out half a building. You're reaching.

Can't comment on BattleCamp Galactica because I haven't seen enough of it.

Yeah, bridge is deep in the center, but the guns are all on the side with no protection. Maybe it would take a long time to win, but how do you propose that Galactica would even scratch the hull of a Starfleet ship? Do we have evidence the shields are vulnerable to nukes? Star Trek has established 20 year old weapons to be not much of a threat, much less projectile weapons.

I suppose some kind of viper kamikaze run at the warp core might be a threat, but I can't imagine Adama ordering that.

Jump a raider inside the warp drive and set a nuke to explode immediately.

Or the bridge.
