Bryan Fuller Stepping Back From Showrunner Role on ‘Star Trek: Discovery’

i enjoyed TWOK far more than TMP. No idea in which order I watched them, but TMP was just so drawn out and boring for me...

Of course, but everything is a production decision. It was a sound decision in my opinion because they couldn't have 51 year old Shatner portray 38-39 y.o. Kirk convincingly anymore. And with that age difference growing in each subsequent movie.

Good job missing my point. Acknowledging that your character ages isn't the same as completely changing the look and feel of a show.
I'm not sure why you're so intent on arguing this anyway. My point was that there have been big changes over time and at least some aspects (like the look and feel) have kind of experienced reboots once in a while.

It was TMP that did the shift from TOS to 2001. Both in themes and visual style (sets, costumes, etc.) TWOK just regressed back to TOS forms IMHO.

I disagree. The aesthetic quality of TOS was mostly a sleek SciFi look with bright colours. Not a dark and gritty look like TWOK. That includes set design, uniforms and lighting.
Not that it matters anyway. Stuff changes, I'm okay with that. Just saying that it is kind of a re-imagining.

Personally I'm not fond of the submarine look and the revenge plots.

Also consistent with TOS. In TOS they had huge shifts from episode to episode from one week to the next. One week it was "submarine-warfare-in-space", the next it was (literary) "Alice-in-Wonderland-theme-planet", etc.

The problem in TWOK thereafter is the step back tech wise from TMP (and even TOS and TAS)
