Bryan Fuller interview

So, I just read this... http://trekmovie.com/2008/09/17/bryan-fuller-wants-to-bring-trek-back-to-tv/

Basically, it's Bryan Fuller saying he'd love to do another Trek series. I know this has the barest whisper of a possibility of happening, but my mind got churning as I was reading it. The further I got, the more VANGUARD! VANGUARD! started screaming through my head. Look at everything he's written, and tell me that Star Trek: Vanguard, the TV series wouldn't be the perfect thing for him to produce. It shakes up the paradigms, it explores characters, it looks at the TOS era from a different angle...

Someone needs to send Bryan a copy of Harbinger ASAP!

Hmmm, being a fan of New Frontier I'd love to see a series centered around Calhoun's crew but Vanguard would be something. I know we would hear the screams about doing another show that takes place in Trek's 'past' but the TOS era could be explored better. Or even better, we wait to see what's left of the Federation after Destiny and start a series set 20 years after that (2401).

Were there to be a new series, I would hope that it would be NONE of the original book series'. Start from scratch. New crew, new ship. Preferably post-Voyager.

Let the original book series' remain exclusively as fiction. Unlimited, no canon nonsense, no contradictions, etc.

Sulu in the center seat on Excelsior, but focus on the lower deck Away Team!

I would agree that they either do something new and fresh going forward beyond what has already been done or something new while also having another series concurrently exploring the adventures of another federation ship during the TOS times maybe.
I don't know, whatever we think of and come up with they, CBS/Paramount, will do whatever they think is best. All we can do is pray that if and when whoever gets the green light to do a new TV series cares enough to really try and gets it right. Of course I'm not sure what the odds or chances are of that happening though...
The new film may answer some of that...maybe...

Personally, I would love to see something set even farther into the future, maybe mid 25th century, or 26th.
