Bringing back to life the Apollo Class

Looks very good but my crit is where are the torpedo launchers then?

Eric´s original version didn´t have a neck, nor a torpedo launcher, but there was a gap between the sec hull and the saucer. I do believe that a neck is needed, but the torp launcher will be blocked by the saucer profile, so... My intention is to put them in the sec hull´s "belly" :D

ahh ok then :)

Would it not make sense to put the launchers in the twin delta pods at the top, like they were on the Nebula class? Or is that device purely used for long range sensors?

Eric´s original Apollo had one launcher under each delta pod, and i´ll keep them in my version too. ;)

I think you've improved the look by lengthening the hull. As far as windows, are you going to cut them out or just use a texture? That's one thing that has kept me from attempting TNG era stuff, all those windows....

I´m manually cutting them. :D Proboolean, now a native plugin, does the task a bit more easy, but not simple. Other way is to cut (editable polly) the windows using a spline behind the mesh as a guide. It´s to much tedious, but produces a much more precise and clean mesh. I´m mixing the two options, using one or other depending where the cut is done. ;)

After a long hiatus, I´m back to this wip. She is in process of complete redo. :)

I´m using for reference an old and low polly Apollo that I found online, and all the main pieces are now in place. At this moment, only the sec hull is teh final version. The other higher polly components will be installed later. :D

Can't wait to see the Apollo's (post-Dominion War) bridge. Will she be laid out like the Enterprise-E with its dark textures, red carpets, etc.?

Technically, the Apollo was a contemporany of the Enterprise-C, so... her bridge don´t fits to the layout you mentioned. :) Anyway, to build bridges is far away from my current skill, so, I won´t build one. :D

After sometime, updates!
All the pieces of the "new" Apollo are now in place, but I still need to increase the pollys of those pods and impulse engines. After that, I´ll begin to put the details over her.:)

I know that I have a huge backlog, but... I simply could not help myself. :wtf:
When at work, I had an idea, so, in my lunch hour played a bit with her in sketchup, which I have installed in my old pc (a PIII with 512 RAM). I got the result attached, which I believe that has potential and, later, I´ll have to come back for her in 3ds max.

Forget the dirty kirkythea renderings, cause I´m still learning how to use it.

It´s alive...............
One year later, updates!

I think I did a good setup for the torp launcher this time. Naceles and "ass" still needs some refinements, as details still needs to be added all around. The green bits are placeholders. ;)
