If that's the NF Captain's Table one then I think you're right. It's either that or the NF Double Helix one, cos they're the only two I haven't read.
Nope again. Here's a hint: the "Mac" in the quote is not Mackenzie Calhoun.
Hmmm, so it's most likely earlier than Being Human, in that case. Random guess: Fire on High.
I thought that would have been a little obvious...
*Is* it from a NF novel?
The Devil's Heart?
That's from Line of Fire, the old Peter David Starfleet Academy novel.
^Bingo. "Mac" being Mark McHenry, who for some odd reason stopped going by the name by the time of New Frontier.
Yay, got one!
OK, here goes...
I will be offline shortly, though...
Got it in one.
I'll try a harder one next time...
The reason why I remembered it is because I had seen Rapture a few days before finding the book in my local library, and liking some of what I thought of as similarities, about...a year or so ago. The names Berat and Marak clicked, and voilà
Ah, s'alright. Means I can go to bed now.
All right, I've got one.
Other than an absolute certainty that I've read the book that the quote is from, I got nuthin.
ETA: The Death of Princes? Nah, too obvious.
No, it's not from The Death of Princes.
It's from a relatively recent book, and one that has caused me much pain in reading.
That's a negative...
I recall you ranting about Before Dishonor. If this is a sample of it, I can see why.
