Bring back...long lost TrekLit characters!

I'm pretty sure that Alexander at least gets mentioned in A Singular Destiny, though I'm not sure whether he makes a full-fledged appearance in it or not (it's been a couple of months since I read it, and my memory's not what it used to be).

It was in "Lost Souls", the epilogue, when Worf is on Deneva and mentions receiving a message from Alexander detailing the situation on Qo'noS

Speaking of characters I want to see again: While I know many people disliked it, I loved "Well of Souls" and consider it a favourite. Therefore, I'd quite like to know what became of Garrett's son, Jason, and his friend Pahl. Seeing them "all grown up" might be interesting...

To my list I’d like to add:

Naraht
How long do these guys live? 10,000 years or something silly like that? And they’re virtually indestructible, too. How is Supreme Admiral (or whatever his title is) Akaar in charge over this guy?

Diane Duane’s Denebians (From My Enemy, My Ally)
Giant aliens. Giant aliens that feel the need to run (or rather slither quickly) everywhere. Giant aliens that feel the need to run/slither quickly everywhere on a miles-long supership, the USS Inaieu. Diane Duane’s version of the Federation is so much more colourful then the one on TV.

George Hill
Captain Bateson crops up fairly frequently (well, twice), but where’s George Hill? I’d love to see George Hill meet Keenser. On the USS Inaieu. In the Delta Triangle.

^Hey Kingdaniel, when is the second appearance by Bateson? I know he was in Ship of the Line, but I was unaware that he was in a second book...or are you referring to the episode he was in as being his first appearance with SotL being his second appearance? I figure he's the kind of character who would show up in the Shatnerverse at some point.

Bateson appeared in Destiny: Lost Souls as captain of the Sovereign-class U.S.S Atlas, which defended Vulcan against the Borg.

Of course...I totally forgot about that appearance. I love those Destiny books! I have to re-read them sooner rather than later. It's next to impossible to keep all the appearances fresh in your mind. On a side note, good for Bateson. It's cool that a time-displaced Captain can be brought back into the fold almost 100 years in the future.

He did indeed show up in the Shatnerverse; he has a quick appearance in Spectre.

He also was in at least one SNW story (Future Shock IIRC).
He's also in "Ancient History" in volume VII.

In that appearance, did Shat say whether Kirk and Bateson knew each other from the 2200's? And if he did, was it elaborated upon? I'd read it myself, but the Shatnerverse books are way down on my list of things to read, as i've already listened to most of the audiobooks. Spectre being one of the ones that I haven't listened to yet...

it was never mentioned. Bateson, Kirk and Scotty were at a Starfleet 'Time Displaced Officers' party. seriously. apparently it happens often enough for them to have parties.

dunno if Arex and M'ress were there...

You know, Shatnerverse novels are the only ones I don't read...

1. Leonard James Akaar is most recently promoted to Fleet Admiral, serving in the position as Federation Starfleet Liaison to the Office of the President of the United Federation of Planets. The only other Fleet Admirals I'm aware of in Trek are Edward Jellico, the new Federation Starfleet Commander-in-Chief (i.e., the boss of all Starfleet who answers only to the President and Council), and Alynna Nechayev. If I'm remembering Destiny correctly, Nechayev seems to be Chief of Starfleet Operations, but don't quote me on that.

2. What makes you think Naraht isn't a Fleet Admiral? Hell, he could have gone and been elected Federation President at some point for all we know.

You haven't read the preview for Losing the Peace on S&S.net (.net, not .com) yet have you?

Well, the Federation in the modern novels features Pahkwa-thanh and Nasats and Alonis and S'ti'ach and four-gendered Andorians and three-gendered Damiani; it's quite colourful there too.

Just finished reading through the preview. Maybe I still missed something, though -- I'm not sure what that has to do with what I posted.

I think he's referring to Jellico.
