Bring back...long lost TrekLit characters!

Re: Pike's Enterprise

Dabisch, the Gallamite communications officer from Where Sea Meets Sky and "Conflicting Natures" was also in Burning Dreams.

Nothing new, but I would also like to see:
SFA comic characters (esp. Decker)
Naraht
The Best and the Brightest characters
Stargazer characters in post-SGZ settings
Lower decks characters from Ex Machina (esp. Spring Rain on Still Water!)
Kent Norellis (sorry, I liked him! He wasn't a bigot, despite what was said about him in Over a Torrent Sea. And why does every gay guy in Trek have to be an old guy with a huge beard?)

I don't need to see the characters per se, but I would like a follow up on the Challenger series. Just a couple lines saying what happened. I actually can't stand Diane Carey's writing, but I did read the New Earth series, so I am curious. And yes, I am aware that at least one Blood or Kauld is in Starfleet by the 2370s (SCE story about Scotty)

I was writing something else, but then the line "in the land of couldn't give a fuck" just played (I'm listening to Anne Clark's The Smallest Acts of Kindness album). It's tempting to use that as an oblique strategy kind of thing and leave it at that.

However. Belle Terre was a political rejection of everything the Federation, Starfleet, and 23rd century Earth stood for. If Belle Terre's culture has survived to the 24th century, they'll be even more out of step. I'm not convinced that the colony would survive, though, given how many times the Enterprise had to save their bacon in the books. I also don't think the libertarian anti-government thing is really sustainable, especially in such an isolated and dangerous place. I can imagine some ways Belle Terre's culture might evolve, but that's getting close to story idea territory.

Kent Norellis (sorry, I liked him! He wasn't a bigot, despite what was said about him in Over a Torrent Sea...)

Nobody said Norellis was a bigot. T'Pel thought of him as someone who "had exhibited difficulty broadening [his mind] to accept other cultural viewpoints." Equating that with bigotry is like saying that someone who isn't flexible enough to perform gymnastics is a paraplegic. Bigotry isn't just difficulty with tolerance, it's an active hatred toward those who are different.

Not sure if they qualify as long lost, but I would like to see the Even Odds and its crew (Rising Son) again.

Most definitely! 100% this! :techman:

I'd like to see Arla Rees, from the Millennium trilogy, make a return in the post-finale DS9 novels.

Might be nice to follow up on some of the cadets from The Best and the Brightest.

The Bickleys
The B-shift Enterprise-D conn-and-ops husband-and-wife bickering Bickleys, from the first DC TNG comic series. They argued. They dressed like superheroes. It’ll never, ever happen but I’d love to see them again on the Enterprise-E in the post-Countdown comic series.
Guards! Seize him!!

I had wanted, back before the line went on hiatus, to bring back the Imperial Klingon Engineers from Kevin Killiany's SCE: Orphans. They were an interesting bunch that could have been a lot of fun to play with.

I would love to see Cray from Once Burned show up again in New Frontier.

^All of the above sounds great!

Especially so regarding the Secret Q Branch of Starfleet Intelligence. Calhoun is Bond!

1. Quentin Stone

Is that the guy from "Rock and a hard place"? If so, I want him back as well. *g* (OTOH, Calhoun from NF is rather similar to him, if further developed of course.)

I'd like to see Quentin Stone again as well. Since he is so much like Calhoun, a meeting between the two might be interesting to examine the ways they're different.

Pity we found out that the antennae grow back in "Enterprise." It'd be interesting if he were still maimed. Of course, maybe they only grow back if they're sliced off, and Calhoun yanking it off took the "root," too.

I'd like to see Spring Rain on Still Water again too! Preferably in something that explored the Megarite homeworld in detail. Best use ever of a minor and not terribly impressive background alien makeup from a movie! A lot of my favorite bits from "Ex Machina" were her appearances.

And I always thought there was some potential in a return for Gary Mitchell. I know his powers were depleted/nullified at the time Kirk caused him to be hit by all those rocks, but this was the same guy who took a phaser rifle burst to the chest a few moments before...

I thought much the same about Elizabeth Dehner. She's just resting, dammit!

She's pining. Pining for the fjords!

Naraht

Gary Seven/Roberta Lincoln/Rain Robinson - they are making appearances in the IDW comics, but I'd like a full lenght novel as well

Hompaq from The Captain's Table. I'd like to see her in her real life, whenever that may be.

More Sam Cogley mysteries

The Klingon kids from War Drums. How come they didn't show up on the IKS Gorkon?

I really want someone to bring back Picard's overeager 'niece' from Tales of the Dominion War's Eleven Hours Out. Her name was Amarante Lebel. She was introduced to Jean-Luc by Marie Picard after she joined Starfleet Academy because Marie felt Jean-Luc needed to have family.

I want to see Alexander Rozhenko again. I had forgotten about the war drum kids, that would be interesting to see what happened with them.

I don't think Alexander has made any appearances since 'A Time For War, A Time For Peace'. Not sure what he's doing post-Destiny either.
