People.

It's bad enough that there's no Mugatu.

It's even worse that there's no Veena and no Beep Beep.

I mean, I like the movie and I like the whole reboot concept in an alternate Universe.

But we can't let them kill off the Green Goddess! Come on guys. Let's bring back Gaila for the sequel and let's let 'em say she escaped on a a life raft pod.

If anyone's game for starting a petition, now's the time!

I just find green such a turn-off. It looks too fake-y to me. Give me real skin color, whatever the flavor, any day of the week.

Those body painting are never a very good for the skin. For actors making a short scene it's fine, but for a long extended period it's bad for the health. The skin doesn't breath and all the chemical product can mix with the blood. Just talk to the actress who made Zhaan in Farscape, she had bleeding from kidney in the end.

Major role, no. Small role return, yes. Better for her health.

She may not need to show quite so much skin in the next film...

I agree. But I think this character is more an entertaining distraction, then a main one. Often good stories really focus on a series of individuals and follow them along the way. In Star Trek, there is many of those main individual...maybe one of the rare exception in movies and TV.

One of the danger in stories is to deviate and go too deep into side characters. But this is an alternate timeline universe anyway, many things can change...

I see no contradiction with Gaila's big grin and an assignment on board the Enterprise. As a way to tease Uhura, maybe.

Whoa! Big time crime for the studios, then. Imagine how it is for the Andorian characters.

I actually thought it might be good to post her at Computer Services or somesuch (I believe that was her specialty-she helped JTK game the KM scenario) after they recovered her from the lifeboat. This might give Kirk an updated Yeoman Rand character, since Nyota appears to be spoken for.

Either we bring back Gaila, or it's the Mugatu, and no one in the Trek Nation wants to go there.

Indeed.

Bring HER BACK!

There's plenty of open to do it under as there's not much clue to which ship she was on or if wasn't on the Enterprise that she got killed.

Bring back the Green Goddess!

I would love to see more of our favorite Green Orion "Slave" Girl!!!

(If she is indeed supposed to be an Orion...)

I wonder if they could add the green skin color in post-production - using cgi - instead of making the actress wear all that nasty - and potentially dangerous - body-makup???

But next time they need to get the color right...if she is Orion, she needs to be a darker/deeper shade of green, imho...

When I saw it again Saturday night, that was the impression I got from her grin, too - that she was assigned to the ship she wanted, and I think pretty much everyone wanted Enterprise.

But not to tease Uhura - they didn't announce Uhura's assignment until Gaila had already grinned, picked up her shoulders, acted all perky, and bounced off.
